Lovely hotel and great location! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable. We had a room on the 3rd floor with a balcony. The glass door of the balcony was surprisingly soundproof, blocking all street noise at night so we slept very well. There is no elevador, so you have to walk up stairs to get to the upper floors, but the stairwell was wide and not very steep, so we had no issues there. I really can’t express enough about how lovely the staff was here. Great communication and so friendly! We had a great stay!

Isabela and the staff at Chiado 44 are by far the best staff in the world. I had a few hiccups during my trip and without the staff, I may not have made it through. Everything from recommendations, to letting me use a personal cell phone, to a handwritten card for my birthday and a call to my cell to make sure that I was OK after an incident. There are not enough words to convey my appreciation! I will definitely be back and cannot recommend Chiado 44 enough.

The location of Chiado 44 was perfect for reaching restaurants, tourist sites and public transportation. The room had a lovely terrace with a view of the water that we loved and although the room was small , it was very well equipped!

Very convenient to attractions

It's a lovely hotel near a lot of attractions. The staff was friendly. However, due to the historical age of the building there is no elevator so if you are handicapped, take that into account. Close to everything and the view on the top floor is lovely.

We stayed in room 403. There are no window treatments on the windows and the sun is very bright in the morning. It is also situated over a school and the children are very loud. There was no cream or sugar for the coffee. It was clean. The neighborhood is great. But the room is overpriced.

Isabella was great! She was able to check us in early on arrival, helped carry the bags to our room, helped schedule our train to another city, arranged our tuk tuk tour, and provided any and all information we needed to enjoy Lisbon. The building was close to everything we wanted to do. While there were a lot of stairs, it never seemed to bother us even after long days of exploring by foot. Bathroom does not feel terribly private, but this seems to be normal for the area. The balcony opens to the road with a view of the river, but the doors kept things very quiet even with a busy shop down below. We were also able to arrange an airport transfer before our trip began that was low stress. Overall, a great stay!

The staff were really helpful and courteous, the place was 300 years old but was quaint and clean, and the bed was comfy. The square in Chiado was close with lots if shops, restaurants, taxi’s and trolly and guys to take you on tours etc. we wete upgraded to the seavurw room BUT The room was up 8 flights of stairs , no elevator, people need to know that. The wifi was really slow. Overall it was a OK but i dint think wed stay again because no lift.

This is an old building with charm and in a great location; however it needs a great deal of assistance with the interior. Rustic and tired are good words. Furnishings are sparse in the rooms. The pictures on Google maps did not reflect what we saw in our rooms…not even close. For the price, you can do better

Friendly, good location

We only stayed on night but round the room comfortable. Quirky, yet had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. We appreciated the early check-in and the luggage store after we checked out. The location was very good to explore Lisbon with the metro close by too.

I loved Lisbon, and starting from the closest plaza to the hotel, it was simply charming. The hotel itself, I would call a dump based on what was shown to me at the facility, including my room. I wasn’t aware that it’s even legal to offer guests a room on the 6th floor (the room numbers ranges started from 100 on the 3rd floor) without an elevator. The room had no windows, the staircase on the last level (addition?) was very narrow, and the light not always was on, even though, I tried to make loud steps to activate the lights by the heavy motion. The lobby was practically nonexistent, and the “lobby” bathroom was on the second floor as well. The cleaning service was awesome. We were simply tricked into accepting this room because we came back soaked from the rain, waiting for the check in. When booking it, we selected a less expensive room as opposed to the room with the river view, I don’t believe that the alternative to the room with the river view is only a 6th floor cell without an elevator. On the evening of my last night there, I received a text message, offering help with the luggage, but the WiFi was constantly dropping there, so I couldn’t answer/go downstairs to reset it with another network because, again, I would have to climb 6 floors down and up. It was mind bugging that such a small hotel would have so many networks, and none was reliable’s. My wife fell on the stairs carrying the suitcase because the lights went off, she has a bruised elbow.

Charming quaint hotel in great neighborhood

This is the most adorable place you can imagine, right in the heart of Chiado. The rooms are compact (European style) but the view of the river and city street is marvelous. The front staff was incredibly friendly. Note that there's no lift so you may have to carry your luggage up several flights of stairs.
