I was excited to book and check into this hotel given its proximity to the ocean and the area of Portugal it is in. The staff was friendly and helpful and my room had a beautiful view of the ocean. However, I woke up after the first night with red, puffy eyes, a sore and scratchy throat and terrible congestion...a strong allergic reaction to something in the room. I paid for two nights but checked out early the second morning because staying in the room again was not an option health-wise. I informed the front desk person about the situation (she could see I was suffering), asked for the manager's name so I could follow up, and also asked Expedia to follow up with the hotel about refunding the second night. The hotel has been unresponsive to me and Expedia which is very disappointing. Despite the great location, I would not recommend this hotel due to concerns about mold and other allergens in the rooms. Note: my symptoms cleared up in less than two hours after leaving the hotel without any medication. I do not have any known allergies but something in the room triggered a strong response.
