Family room roomy and great location

Family room was comfortable, location is great between 2 tube stops and an easy walk to Paddington Station. Heaps of food and grocery options around and right across the road from huge park. Parking is first come first served c.o.d. 1 small lift for the whole building was a bit slow. Water pressure was good.

Don’t Stay There

Very disappointed in the OLD ROOMS. Stayed there 12+ years ago & facilities same as back then and they weren’t flash then. Very few amenities in room, no tissues 2 tiny body wash/hair shampoo in one. No conditioner. No face washer. Shower in old green bath tub. No Fridge. Old worn carpet with a hole in it outside lift to go up to room. Old heavy windows with paint cracked and what appeared to be wood rot. Filthy balcony out window that hadn’t been cleaned or attended to for years littered with cigarette butts along with the dirt. 2 dirty old Perspex pieces along outside frame which I assume was to try & stop someone getting in. Very hot stuffy room with open window with no fly screen to let air in that couldn’t be left open at night because of security reasons. Overall old & dowdy and over a waste of the $900 AU it cost to stay there.

Great service and location, hotel odd but nice

First of all, the staff are amazing. Super friendly and helpful. The location is great too. Just as in the pictures the hotel is a bit... eclectic. With 60's wood paneling, 70's avocado bathroom, 80's wallpaper and 90's carpet it was still all clean and in perfectly good order. I actually enjoyed the mishmash and it does give the room certain character. The breakfast was really disappointing. No cooked component at all. Not even a boiled egg - nothing, nada, zip. Breakfast room is grandiose to say the least, which was nice, but it's an oddly curated collection of furniture. Our room was on the 4th floor facing the park. Good view but I recommend you request a room on 1st or 2nd floor as the windows may be larger there. Overall, I was really pleased with this hotel, bar the sad looking breakfast, and will come again. Staff were amazing and really tried their best always.

Relatively affordable stay very close to central London. Breakfast offered will cover at basic level all the expectations. Rooms were last renovated in ‘70s or ‘80s, but the staff keeps them clean. Public spaces very pleasant in the restaurant/ bar area. A complete rehabilitation of the building is necessary, but that will put the hotel in a much higher category, out of reach for the current clients.

This hotel is an older Victorian style. It’s not your typical city hotel. It is older but has lots of charm. The location is perfect, next door to Hyde Park. Walking distance to the tube. The room was very large, was pleasantly surprised when we saw it. Perfect for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. There were 4 single beds and enough space to move around in. Parking was very convenient. It was cheaper considering what the car parks charge in the area. Well worth it. Overall we loved our stay.

The staff were very friendly & helpful. Location was ok. The property is dated. Floors creaked very loudly. No AC. They did provide a fan. But room was very warm. Shower /tub issues … water turned on for tub. It was VERY difficult to switch to shower. There wasn’t any button or cord. We had to tug on the hose coming out of tub spout to shower head. It was not easy & quite frustrating.

Loved this hotel; I’ll definitely return. Victorian high ceilings with 1970s avocado bathrooms. Double room was much bigger than expected for central London. Felt at home here straight away. Staff are friendly and helpful. Bus stop right outside so easy connections and tube station under 5 mins walk away. The hotel is regularly used for fashion photoshoots and filming so you know it’s a cool place to stay.

We absolutely loved staying at The Columbia! Our room was perfect. The staff cleaned every day, which was very nice. Having breakfast and a bar downstairs was helpful. It was great to be so close to Hyde Park, which is full of magical spots to spend many hours.
