Two thumbs up for DoubleTree

DoubleTree ticked all the boxes - cleanliness, comfort, quality. The standout was the customer service which was very friendly (especially the person who serviced our rooms who was always friendly and helpful). Minor downside was that it's not exactly close to any key locations, but the bonus was that we got to know Angel Islington which is a bit of hidden gem (recommend a walk along the canal and the German bakery). We we were able to access all the usual tourist hot spots by bus or train (both available within 5 minutes walk. All in all, very happy with our stay (and we tend to be a bit not picky 😁)

Great stay

We really enjoyed our stay here. Its only a 15mins walk from Kings cross or 1 tube stop. The room was nice and clean with a small mini fridge and kettle in the room. We are also really grateful that they now hand out free vegan cookies along with their normal cookies as our son has a dairy intolerance, so he was so happy he now also receives a cookie at check-in.

Room nice and clean. Staff very pleasant and friendly. Had a fitness suite, restaurant and bar. Very good location. Arrival - renovations in the bar area made the entire reception STINK of excrement and pipes. It was disgusting! Temporary but not a pleasant arrival. Key - our key broke every single day. Wouldn’t unlock the lifts and had to get it fixed 3 separate times. Fine once that was done but unideal. Room - clean and good for our stay. Bathroom shower pressure was bad and very weak. Air con very bright in the darkness. Also turns itself off even if you’re in the room.

Friendly staff, and convenient location for Kings Cross and Angel. Standard of cleanliness is high. Couple of points driving the ‘ok’ rating 1. pillows are v soft and there are no alternatives available - resulted in poor sleep. Staff did provide additional pillows, though they made little impact as they too were too soft! 2.for the price point, a certain standard is expected and the toilet rolls did not meet that standard! Cutting corners - Hilton, do better.
