AC kept switching off. You have to carry the complimentary water from reception to your room. You have pay an unexpected deposit of £30 which isn't put back on your card on checkout but put back afterwards. Never come across this with any other hotel. Only one hand towel but two bath towels?! Tissue boxing bathroom had all of 3/4 tissues in it. Lights were very dim. Room was very small for the size of bed. No slippers or dressing gown. Why is the soap and hand cream closer to the toilet than the sink? Poorly designed bathroom.

The DoubleTree was a great hotel and we really enjoyed our stay there. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The food was actually very good which is surprising for a hotel. The only thing that was slightly disappointing about the hotel—it was a lot further from Kings Cross Station than we thought. I think the description in Expedia was a bit misleading. It was probably a good 35-45 minute walk and if you have luggage, the sidewalk is bumpy, so be prepared. The hotel’s location is a bit far from most of the sites in London, so you will be using public transportation. The restaurant next door, The Castle, is really good and there are also restaurants down the street.

We had a great stay at this hotel in London! While it’s not right next to the major historic sites, the location is super convenient—close to major train stations and public transportation, which made getting around the city a breeze. Taxis were always easy to find, and we appreciated how quickly we could get anywhere we needed to go. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with a professional and attentive staff. A solid choice if you’re looking for convenience and easy access to the rest of the city!

Second chance visit

Our March visit wasn’t the greatest, but this time around all the previous issues were gone. Room was clean, well stocked, and cool despite the heat outside. Service was friendly and helpful. The problem with the key cards malfunctioning had disappeared. I’m glad I gave it a 2nd chance! This is a great location for us and we will be back.
