A delightful hotel, with a wonderful and very helpful staff in a great location. Very good breakfast buffet. Somewhat unusual and very attractive premises. Even the small single rooms are quite comfortable.

Many will run away after prior reviews I’ve seen. My point is: how much time do you really expect to spend in the room? Yes the rooms are tiny Yes there is construction behind But every day our room was cleaned and made up. The location to the underground can NOT be beat. The shops and eateries 1 block away ( where the tube also is) can’t be beat I’ve traveled 40 hrs plus….yes there are better and yes there are always worse. I have no problem saying this is a fine place to lay your head

What an interesting hotel .....we actually slept in the same bed that edward vii and lilly langtree shared ......just kidding.......no faults at allexcept a little extractor humming noise all night in our basement room..........

It’s looks quaint but the room wasn’t what we expected. More the bathroom far too small and as for the shower I doubt anyone over average size could get in it and shut the screen. Sitting on the toilet was at an angle. Not good. Bed was ok but on the 1st floor there are no lifts with step stairs to get up to it. Also at that level you can hear the tube rumbling underneath the hotel. Reception staff not that friendly when we checked in either. Overall an average hotel at best could do with some TLC in the room we were.

It is a good hotel location with great character. Some of the common areas are a little tired and would welcome some TLC. Our room was very small for the price we paid. We couldn’t stand on each side of the bed..

Lovely well maintained historical property. Polite staff. Cozy intimate bar. Nice buffet breakfast (fee).The king bed took up almost all the room, leaving no room for a chair for the small desk! Also did not care for the six stairs I had to climb once inside the room. Very convenient for many ethnic restaurants on Queensway . Across the street from Hyde Park. Would consider staying again, but will ask for a smaller bed and a room with no stairs. 8.5 out of 10.

The main parts of the hotel were beautiful - the reception, the stair case, the ceilings… but my room was terrible! It had a generator right outside the window, was very cramped, noisy air conditioner (when it worked, which it didn’t the first night so was very hot in the room) and the bed was pretty uncomfortable with cheap pillows. Overall not a good room experience at all! Breakfast was good though and it’s very close to the tube station which is good.

Money Better Spent Elsewhere
Our stay began with a less-than-ideal experience. We arrived late for our four-night visit and found ourselves in a room with a window that faced the hotel hallway. The concierge kindly suggested we check back in the morning for a possible room change. We managed to make the best of it for the night. The following day, after a brief discussion with the staff, a manager escorted us to a new room with a window that opened up to the outside world, which was a welcome change. However, the room itself was quite compact, and the bathroom was similarly small, lacking a shower curtain, making it feel more like a splash zone than a bathroom. We also noticed some overlooked cleanliness issues, including forgotten items under the furniture and stained towels. While I didn’t expect luxury given the price, I did leave feeling somewhat disappointed, wishing we had chosen a different place. On a positive note, the hotel’s location is excellent—a quick two-minute walk to two tube stations, with numerous grocery stores and pubs nearby. If you’re considering this hotel, I recommend exploring other options for a more enjoyable stay.

It was much nicer than I expected Staff was very kind Hotel was charming, older, classic English,of a certain era. We loved it. I took the time to phone the hotel directly to let them know we would be arriving rather late…. I also requested a room with a bathtub which we were granted. We were pleased with all of it and will be returning
