Disappointed surprise night away!
First impressions of hotel beautiful, curb side appeal exactly what we were after, oldy worldly. Reception staff welcoming and helpful. Reception bathrooms pristine. Our room… disappointed due to size, smaller than expected. Headboard worn and in need of repair, vinyl peeling off. Bed sheet did not fit the bed, no scatter cushions as in photo. Even with mattress topper bed uncomfortable and leaning to right side. Bathroom hand basin both taps very hot water, health and safety issue!! Small black insects on the back of the toilet cistern. Shower again very hot water, no apparent temperature control. Room very warm . Breakfast excellent, lovely attentive staff , great selection of food choices. Room does not meet first impressions of hotel. Disappointed as night away was a surprise for my partner. We enjoyed a meal and a show , which were amazing. Will definitely return to London, just not at the Grand Royale.

Happy yanks.
Great stay. Helpfull staff. Luggage storage til check in was great. Room was clean and big( bit of squeaky floors). Location was great ( 3 -5 min walk to plenty restaurants, shops , and 2 diff train stations). Would def. Stay again next time.

Beautiful boutique hotel
Beautiful old boutique hotel. We had a lovely stay for our week in London. As mentioned this is an old hotel - small room, quirky layout. But also you feel like you are actually in London rather than a generic hotel. I can't stress enough how perfect the location is. Kensington/Hyde park are directly across the street and there are many great restaurants one block over. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was maybe a bit rushed.

Be warned that this hotel has no functioning locks on the doors. It made me feel very unsafe as a solo female traveller. The staff said they can't fix the locks due to a prior "safety" incident and wouldn't provide another solution. Avoid at all costs.

Lovely stay in London
Lovely stay, welcoming staff on reception and in breakfast room. Beautiful features in main reception areas. Breakfast was excellent. Our Deluxe bedrooms were a little tired and very tight for space, particularly the bathroom, however we enjoyed our stay. The location is great, very close to bus/tube and walks in Hyde Park.

Our deluxe room was in fact just adequate. The bed was a small double, not really suitable for tall people. With one exception (the gentleman stood to the side) the front desk staff were brusque and not very friendly. It was impossible not to flood the bathroom when showering as the shower screen was approximately 3 inches wide! Customer service did not respond to our concerns until after we had left. The location was convenient.

This is a beautiful old hotel. The single room was tiny with a small stand-up shower, however, it was clean, hotel reception service was helpful and the breakfast buffet was lovely. No complaints.
