2 hour wait for room

I am sorry to say that the stay did not get off to a good start. Upon arriving at 15:00 to check in as appropriate, we were told our room was not ready and to reapproach the check in desk in 30-45 mins. Upon re-approaching the check in desk 50 mins later, I was once again told that our room was not ready. I politely advised to the staff member (who was trying her best throughout) that I had already been waiting for just shy of an hour and would some clarification on when we could get in our room, as we had a dinner reservation at 17:30. The staff member could not advise me and asked me to come back in 15-20 mins. I came back for a 3rd time and again, was told that the room was not available. I politely advised that if they could come find me when the room was available, that would be appreciated. At 16:55, the staff member (who again I must commend) offered our room number and room key, with us getting into our room at 17:00. This meant we had to be in and out of our room in 5 mins, to ensure we made our dinner reservation. This was incredibly poor and led to a lot of stress throughout our stay. (Side note - Another couple paid for early check in for 13:00 and were still without a room at 16:55!)

Rooms are tired and dated. Would benefit from plug socket on both sides of bed. TV kept losing connection and blanking out. Corridors often dirty with room service items not picked up throughout the day. Cups and glasses not cleaned when room cleaned.

Underwhelming The hotel is very dark throughout making it feel oppressive. Bathroom facilities were poor - leaking shower, shower curtain falling off, nowhere to hang a towel. Over reliance on apps/gadgets makes it feel impersonal. Not for me
