Not great

Hotel is in good condition generally but there are a few areas that are in need of addressing. Some furniture was worn and some fixtures were loose etc. The big problem was the food. Not a cheap food option and the quality of the food was poor. I had prawn pasta on the first night which was bland and the prawns were scarce and overcooked. On the second night I had the fish and chips, the batter was soggy and the chips were overcooked. I did complain on both occasions and was offered a complimentary drink.

Nice hotel but service and spa were disappointing

The reason I booked this hotel was because it had a pool. On check in the evening before, we were told that the pool opened at 8am so we went down to the spa at 8.15am the next morning, planning to have a swim before breakfast. On arrival, the doors were closed and we could see two members of staff inside, one in the pool cleaning it. We knocked on the door to get their attention as the sign outside still said ‘open from 8am’, the staff members didn’t open the doors to speak to us but shouted through the glass to say that it would reopen at 9.30. No explanation or apology. We therefore didn’t have time to swim before breakfast and wouldn’t want to swim afterwards with a stomach full and because we had plans for the rest of the day. I did raise the issue at reception after this but was given no apology, just told that I could swim after breakfast. I was unhappy with the overall customer service on this matter and consider that I have paid for something which I haven’t been able to use. The room itself, breakfast, restaurant staff and hotel cleanliness were very good but the pool issue ruined the experience somewhat. The initial welcome at check in wasn’t that great either, the guy at reception wasn’t particularly friendly and didn’t explain to us that we had free drink vouchers to use or which floor to find our room on!
