I found it frustrating when I entered the room, which was extremely dark, that I couldn't figure out how to turn on the lights. I ran my hands against all the walls and none of the light switches worked. Finally figured out the key needed to be put in the slot to activate lights, but I could barely see that was a thing or how it needed to be done. Then my shower overflowed because I had never seen a drain cover like that and kept trying to push it down or pull up to get it to drain but it wouldn't. Finally figured out that it rotated sideways, a drain type I'd never seen before. Finally, I tried to make myself coffee and couldn't get the machine to work. Was unfamiliar with the machine and thought there was something I was doing wrong. Eventually figured out there was a switch on the nearby electrical panel that needed to be activated. Here's a tip for good customer experience: Make things brain dead simple for customers when they walk into a room that is unfamiliar to them. My first 10 minutes in the room made me frustrated, annoyed, and unable to get my most basic needs met upon entering after a long haul flight. Put yourself in the customer's shoes.

We had a lovely stay. It has been several years since we last stayed and it was nice to come back. Our room was really nicely laid out and very clean and tidy. We will come back sooner next time.

Booked as a solo traveler. Have stayed a couple of years ago as a solo traveler so aware that room was small. However very hot room due to being on 5 th floor. Did try to alter temperature but didn’t always work. Only given 1 pillow requested another pillow when down at reception Waited an hour nothing arrived. Realised I had no way of contacting reception as no telephone in the room! No contact via smart TV and no relevant number to use from my own phone. Got dressed went to reception which was a bit of a nuisance as have mobility problems at present. spoke to a different member of staff who didn’t appear to want to be there! but managed to get a pillow and a phone number to contact reception if needed. It was like pulling teeth! Otherwise very clean and other staff I interacted with extremely helpful. Single room overpriced but it’s London! I stay for location to UCLH so no doubt will return in the future. Maybe a double room next time!
