The Shakespeare was ideal for my one night stay in London, being conveniently close to Paddington Station. The staff were helpful and the room was clean with comfortable bed and good shower.
No mention of stairs only ..very difficult with luggage.
Rooms had too much furniture and too small. Bathroom size was ridiculous.
Breakfast staff friendly. Luggage storage good
Great location and room, although small was clean and tidy.
Hotel is a little dated and there only appears to be a small staircase but not a problem for me. I would stay here again.

Very small room, very noisy from the train, looks like we were having a big earthquake evrytime the train passed, we couldn't sleep, i asked to be switched to other room but they ignored me.Also the badroom has a loud noise from electrical sistem. The refrigerator was noisy too. Who can sleep like that. The people on charche were friendly. Very simple breakfast. No beacon or sausages.
I was returning from a long flight that got in late. I booked a room to overnight in London. The Square is charming as are the staff. I'm returning in March 25 and will definitely be booking again. Do include the breakfast option as it is great value for money. I found the reception staff and breakfast room staff helpful and friendly.
Really nice place, right next to the train station and super accessible.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Reasonably priced but rather tiny
The room was very clean & tidy although very small. The bathroom had a 'damp' smell that was quite overpowering if the door was left open.
We had a room on the third flood which meant 62 steps to our floor.
Reasonably priced for our 1 night stay and excellently placed for the train station.
Short walk to Paddington Station, the connection to Heathrow Airport via the Elizabeth Line or Heathrow Express. Able to walk all through historic London and back again. Included a full breakfast. Kept our luggage until ready to check in. Only issue was the rumbling of the Metro line felt like a small earthquake every 5 minutes or so. Stopped overnight so didn't interfere with sleep. Able to get used to it.

Found it VERY unusual that the water was not potable. Required purchasing bottled water. On my first stay, I was given a room requiring me to climb 60 steps. The higher I went, the narrower the steps became. There was not an adequate handrail at the top of the last stairs. I had to carry my suitcase up. It was difficult. When I left the first time, I requested a room on a lower floor for my two more stays. I was placed in quiet rooms on the main/registration floor and was OK with that.
Like all the hotels in this area it's converted houses with lots of stairs and rooms on several floors. My room was small but as described. The hotel generally seems clean and well maintained. Breakfast was better than I expcted. Overall the hotel was good value for London
