I booked in to the hotel & when we arrived, were shown down to room 403, which seemed fine, except the toilet was constantly on a flush & wouldn't stop. We'd only arrived to drop bags off & then go out, so I mentioned this to the reception man & then went out.
On returning (around 8pm), the flushing had stopped, but as soon as I flushed the toilet, it did the same & kept running. I tried to call reception, but the phones didn't work, so I went up.
The receptionist (lady this time) called the man & tried to fix it in whatever way he had & couldn't, so we were offered a different room (401).
We went in there & there was a distinct smell of drains in there (along with around a dozen air fresheners to cover it up), but it was quiet & it was the only room available, so we took it.
Then, around 10pm, there was a mass of noise from the room next door, which sounded like 20 dishwashers all running at the same time & ran through the night constantly.
When I spoke to the man in the morning, he said it was the draining pumping system & there was nothing he could do.
This can't be the first time anyone who has had the misfortune to end up in room 401 has complained. If someone had said "Sorry, the toilet is broken & the only room we have has a massive noise all through the night", then I would have refused & just asked for a refund & gone away.
We walked out without touching the breakfast we'd paid for, which looked as pitiful as that room.
Good area for tube stop though.
