Unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. The photos looked very special but all in all it was a bit underwhelming. The garden needs a lot of upkeep and the room (38) was small and not very well furnished. The AC was confusing so a little note to how to set it wouldn’t go a miss. The kettle and coffee machine are tucked away under a shelf, when the kettle is boiling the hot steam is dangerously close to the rest of the items. I don’t believe the fridge was very cold but to be fair we didn’t need to use it. The staff were pleasant but we were shown to a table in the bar area at breakfast, no one attended to us until we advised breakfast was served in a room around the corner. The dinner menu was limited and I felt the food wasn’t of great quality or value. Adding a Pea Shoot to a dish doesn’t make it gourmet! With a bit of TLC and some investment I’m sure it could be amazing. I don’t think we are likely to stay again I’m afraid

Picturesque Hotel

Our second visit to Warren House and very enjoyable. We were in a standard room this time which was comfortable but bathroom was quite small and the shower is over a bath so less roomy and easy to use than a walk-in shower. The location is very picturesque and you feel as if you’re in the middle of a country estate. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. A special thank you to Gabriella on reception who is always very welcoming and accommodating. We will be back again Im sure

I bought an overnight getaway for my parents at Warren House, to treat them to a relaxing evening as they’ve gone through a challenging time taking care of my elderly grandmother. Their stay was very good, they really loved their room and they said the staff were extremely friendly and their room was stunning. The breakfast was also very nice, but unfortunately I couldn’t give 5 stars as their dinner was a complete let-down. My parents are not picky, nor do they ever have high expectations, but my mother said she ordered butter chicken as her main, and she said what was served to her could only be described as dog food in soup. She said the chicken was diced in little cubes in a very runny sauce and the rice was not cooked enough and still hard. They let the staff know and to their credit they were refunded their mains. I just wanted this night to be perfect, so to know they didn’t have a great dining experience on the one night they could have off was a bit disheartening. Maybe this is something for management to investigate, as everything else was top tier, including the breakfast service! If a menu item is not service worthy, perhaps it’s best to take it off the menu for one night than to serve substandard food. I would still give the hotel 4* as everything else was faultless and delivered what was promised.

Terrible smell in our room but bed was comfy. Decor in hotel was old and worn and the lack of elevator meant having to carry our luggage up lots of stairs. Felt uncomfortable during breakfast due to one member of staff standing at entrance to breakfast area and watching folk eat. Would not stay again

Great hotel/staff - lacked a little common decency

Building was beautiful, atmosphere was relaxing and staff were very polite and helpful, especially in the bar and restaurant. Unfortunately we did stumble across quite a bad issue at the hotel. The hotel was booked as a little getaway for myself and my daughter - to celebrate her getting good exam results. The plan was to find somewhere that had a pool as we enjoy swimming a lot. The gym was a bonus as my daughter enjoys working out. Sadly, the pool was not an enjoyable experience. I would usually swim for at least 2 hours or more but I had to get out after 45 minutes. Upon getting in the pool it was bath water temperature and uncomfortably hot. I usually like the water to be a little refreshing (not cold but certainly not bath water temperature). After 30 minutes I started coughing and sneezing and gradually my throat started burning. I believe the heat of the pool, lack of adequate ventilation and potentially unsafe chemical levels resulted in me being extremely poorly that night. I do suffer with asthma so this did not help. I thought the symptoms I was having would subside but they persisted through the night and I didn't raise my dissatisfaction until the next morning upon checking out. The receptionist apologised and said they had someone coming to fix the issues. When we left the building they were telling the truth as there was a pool specialist van outside the hotel. Looking back I believe they should have offered a partial refund as causing someone illness is severe

The otherwise excellent stay and service (thank you for accommodating an early check-in!) was spoiled by an absolutely awful in-room dining, worst I've ever had. My complaint about the food fell on deaf ears, I was not offered any deduction for its cost. Shame really as otherwise everything was great.

Really enjoyed our 2-night stay although, going to the rugby at Twickenham meant we didn’t spend a huge amount of time at the hotel. However, our experience of the hotel was fantastic - lovely room, superb friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. As it is ultimately a Victorian hotel, it is a little tired and the walls are thin, but none of this cast any sort of shadow on our stay. Would highly recommend, every member of staff couldn’t do enough to help.
