It’s a fairly standard roadside motel. Nothing fancy. Clean, quiet, and updated. Comfortable and easy. The whole town is walkable - perfect location for grabbing dinner, getting some sleep before heading up Whitney, or just continuing on your way.

The property has been repainted with new carpet. It is clean and the bed and sheets were comfortable. My only complaint is that the small black out curtains did not keep out the very bright lights in the parking lot. Other than that, I would stay again but bring an eye mask.

Old school motel. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was modest but clean. Stayed 2 nights either side of a Mt Whitney hike, so it was inexpensive and perfect.

Ok place when everything else is booked

I think the weirdest aspect of our stay was the person who greeted us when we first arrived. She seemed very disengaged and did not seem like a people person. Very awkward person and really not that friendly. Once in the room everything was fine. This is certainly nothing luxurious, but it was ok. In the morning there was a gentleman who worked there who was very friendly.

The hotel room was very clean. The bedding clean, no stains or rips and the sheets were extremely soft. My husband prefers a firm bed and I prefer a soft bed, yet both of us slept very well on the king size bed. The mattress is very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and well maintained. The only areas I would like to see improvement on would be to provide guests with more than one towel per person, or at least offer it upon check-in. The other would be to invest in some quiet and energy efficient air conditioners for the property. The air conditioners worked great but are extremely loud. My other suggestion would be to add decorative pillows for the bed so the room doesn’t seem so spartan. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

We stayed one night but got our money’s worth and I’d say this motel should be in the category of three stars - not two. We had three queen beds, air conditioning (loud but muffled out my son’s snoring so yay), coffee in the room, beds were satisfactory, check in was friendly and easy, and everything super clean. All basics covered above average. Only upgrades I can see is with having bottled water in the room, better creamer for coffee, and better blanket/quilt/bed covering. I’m very satisfied. Thank you!

Trails Motel Stay

It is obvious that the owners take pride in the maintenance and cleanliness of the property. The bed was comfortable. It was very quiet at night even with a basically full motel.

Nice room for the price. Overall, pretty comfortable. The parking lot is tight and that made it a bit tough to maneuver when we left the property to do some Nightscape photography in the Alabama Hills.
