We liked the pool and the proximity to the Grove and Farmers Market. There is an eclectic restaurant called Swingers attached to it that had good comfort food. The only 2 things we didn't like is we had to use valet parking so we lacked the freedom to go to and from our car - we had to have someone get the car for us whenever we needed it. Also the elevator was out of service and our room was on the 3rd floor so we had to drag our luggage there., but they did offer to help.

Ask them whether the construction on either side of the hotel has been completed.

Excellent environment and vibes, cozy, interesting architecture and overall a unique hollywood sorta vibe. Pool was clean and convenient, staff was helpful, proximity to LACMA museum and local stores (CVS, Whole Foods) very much a plus. Warning, not wheelchair or elderly accessible, at least for my stay there. A lot of stairs, and elevator was out of commssion.

No elevator for a week while rooming in the 3rd floor was not fun. No cleaning or teach pick up for the entire week.

I stay regularly at the Beverly Laurel. It is nothing fancy although I do appreciate the midcentury decor. The price is right for LA even with parking. The evening hotel clerk could work on his friendliness. The morning clerk was very friendly. Having Swingers downstairs is also convenient.

This was my 2nd stay here. I love the area, and the hotel is nice but not fancy- a chill environment. It lost a star on this trip for the elevator being out of order and my having to lug a heavy suitcase up stairs. If the elevator had been fixed or there’d been an offer to help with my bag, I’d’ve given it 5 stars for the convenience/location and overall vibe.

This is definitely an experience if you are looking for a cute retro hotel close to The Grove, Melrose (shopping area with lots of vintage stores) The Academy Museum and West Hollywood. Where this hotel falls short is the amenities and the staff. Cute pool, refreshing but not heated and the area around the pool is dirty. NO elevator, and from what I can read the elevator has been out of operation for years. Question, if guests are expected to pay a $35 per night "resort fee", why has this not been addressed yet? My guess is that it's really expensive to bring an old elevator up to code, and they would rather not spend the $. In regards to staff, some were lovely, and some didn't even acknowledge you and gave a bit of push back when you asked for clean towels. Your experience at the Beverly Laurel depends on what kind of traveller you are. If you are someone who doesn't spend a lot of time in the room, enjoy some character/charm in a place, and just need a place to rest after a long day of city exploring - I would try this property for a night or two. If you are someone who enjoys frills, for example - nice staff, REALLY clean room and surrounding area, room service, and daily housekeeping, I wouldn't even consider it. *Also, there are condo's being built on either side of the hotel. If you book during the weekday for the next 2-3 years, you won't need an alarm clock past 7AM.

Really enjoyed my time there. The young guy who checked me in was super friendly and was a great initial welcome (other staff were less friendly, not greeting guests as they walk in and on their phones). Beds were comfortable, nice to have a fridge and microwave in the room. Pool area was also nice to relax at! Only bit of criticism I had was that the rug in the room really needed a deep clean - noticed my feet were black with dirt throughout the trip and couldnt figure out why until they were immediately dirty again after a shower and I had just been walking around the room. Everything else was very clean though, and I'd stay there again.

I really love the Beverly Laurel. It’s a hip but friendly low-cost place to stay in LA. Great staff, comfortable rooms, nice pool, great location. It’s an older building though, so not perfect. That said, I’ll definitely return.

The place is super cute and very clean. Plenty of seating by the pool. Large bathroom with ample sink space and storage. Wish they had clued us in better on the parking situation - the valet is free!
