This is our second time staying here, and the property and staff are excellent—perfect if you’re staying alone or with a significant other. However, this time around, downtown LA feels quite different. While the hotel does a great job with security, requiring key cards for entry and usually having someone at the front, the surrounding area—just two blocks in any direction—feels noticeably less safe.

Style over substance may suit you fine
I do not like the irreverent style of the hotel. Hip is ok. But a neon picture of a flatulent women featured in the hotel lobby is of extremely poor taste. I could not invite my business colleagues here. Rooms are too small. Everything is self-service. Lots of employees walking around to create a vibe but little else. May I add, no parking structure is not great either. There are options nearby.

Expensive but clean and very small with hard bed.
It’s a brand new hotel. Everything is completely automated, self-serve and digital, even check in. You need an app to operate everything in your room. The rooms are just over 100 feet big. Not suitable for couples. The bathroom is only separated by a thin piece of glass. No privacy at all. The bed was very hard. For how expensive it is I expected a nice bed. I appreciate how clean it was. When booking the hotel, it said they would offer us a situation for parking as they did not have parking on site. They did not, we had to ask them and they said that we could just find parking somewhere in the area. They did not have a loading zone either as we circled the block three times trying to look for one. We had to park across the street which cost $30 just to unload the car. Once we were already checked in, they said oh you could’ve just parked in the red zone. A lot of people do that… they said. Then we moved the car three blocks down to the nearest lit parking garage and left it there overnight.

Loved Citizen M establishment, clean, great helpful staff, good breakfast, building locks front door by 8 p.m. - for safty reasons, use your hotel room card key fror reentry to hotel. Surrounding Area is very sketchy, lots of homeless people- which doesn't bothers me - its just when theyre drugged up & that can be dangerous. I will like to try another Citizen M establishment in the future. ~ M J
