NO kitchen, only has a microwave. NO parking spot, you need to pay $25 extra to the nearby parking . Room smell is terrible since the roommate is smoking. Overall it is not a good budget choice.

Freehand is an affordable hotel with a high level of service and a great design. Located in DTLA, there’s a lot of great food and shopping in walking distance.

We really liked our Corner Suite, which was on the 9th floor. It was spacious with a nice bathroom that had great water pressure in the spacious (room for two) shower. The bed was comfortable and there are blackout curtains for the windows. The only complaint we had, which is the reason for our rating, is that the windows are single pane, which means we heard literally every single thing happening on the street below us. This is downtown L.A. It was busy all night long. I bought ear buds and used them for our second night. Slept like a baby, but my wife said it was really loud. Only other comment is to be aware that if you drive to the hotel, parking is $59/day. You can take a chance with other options in the area. We didn't and are happy we didn't. The service was good, but factor that into the cost. Also, the roof pool is only open for 7 hours per day, and not until 12:00 noon. Kind of a bummer. Otherwise, we really like the hotel!

It is incredibly social inside the hotel and the lobby has a cafe and restaurant so there are a lot of people coming and going. But it is still relaxed and a great place to plug in and get some social media or work done on your computer with the wifi and plugs available in the lobby lounge.

I wish we could use the laundry machines in the basement lounge room. Instead, we get to hear cleaning staff close the door and have phone conversations. I understand the need to get away, but , at times it becomes an inconvenience for paying customers.

The staff treats you terrible, if you are in their way. God forbid you meet the house keeping supervisor. He will let you know, who he is - even if he’s in the wrong.
