From the photos of the hotel website it looks very good. However upon entry you can tell the building was very out dated. It felt a little haunted. The elevator was so tiny if you have a lot of luggage you would have to make multiple trips. The hallway room was old and had a very strong odor. The room itself had the same odor, was very outdated, and felt very uneasy. The bed was rock hard. My son had bad allergies to the smell. There was no way we would have spent the night let alone the whole trip. We booked a different spot and checked out as soon as we checked in. The front desk staff was very helpful and polite and understood our concerns they refunded us for the unused nights with easy. Other than the friendly staff and the location I would not stay here even if it was free.

The front desk lady was not helpful. We almost had to find another place due to parking and she was like ok, cancel. She could care less. Had no idea where we should park. Thankfully the valet was able yo help us. I would not recommend staying here because of her alone.

Nice bed and clean room but no heater, loud annoying fan when turn on light in bathroom, terrible view, $25 parking down the street, and charged extra $23 “resort fee” even though Hotels.com listed all costs included online.

Slow wi-fi, loud noises

Great location. But the generator in the middle of the building sounds like a loud idling car 24/7. The wi-fi was slower than 2 mbps - insanely slow. The $20 “resort fee” is just a sham that hotels get away with at this point. Quite the bummer of an experience

A Classic, with Pros and Cons

This hotel is located in the heart of downtown Santa Monica, so you can easily walk to the most popular places in Santa Monica. That's great, since driving and finding parking in downtown Santa Monica is sometimes not fun. The hotel is in an older building, but it has been well updated, and the accommodations are great, especially the comfortable beds. The staff is extremely friendly and proactive. In exchange for the great location, you have a few trade-offs. There's no free breakfast, though a couple of very good places right nearby will give a 15% discount on breakfast if you show your room card. Also, as the hotel is right downtown, you may be able to hear buses as they start running early in the morning and the occasional rabble rouser making some noise late at night. Personally, I'd stay here again. They really go out of their way to take care of their guests, and you can't beat the location.

Perfect location, exceptional staff

Super friendly, super helpful staff. Checked in easily and quickly after being delayed by half a day. Used the valet parking, that was a breeze too. Our room (200) was much bigger than expected, like a small apartment and had everything we need. They location is second to none and made exploring Santa Monica easy! Thanks again to all the staff there.

Highly recommend

The building was historic and beautiful. The staff was very polite, friendly, and receptive to anything we needed. Having 24hr valet service was convenient however we didn't use our car much since we were a block from the beach, 2 blocks from the santa monica pier, across the street from the mall, and righ next to the shopping district we had everything we needed for the weekend. We truly enjoyed our stay and i look forward to staying again.
