First time staying at this hotel. I was eerie at first due to the location but it was actually great. We didn’t walk during the night but during the day it was fine. It’s walking distance to the Placita Olvera for shopping and eating. The rooms are out dated but are super clean. I would definitely stay there again

Really wanted to like this property, but there were too many flaws. Staff was great. Easy checkin. Got to room—it was warm and stuffy. Turned in A//C… after about a min it turned off. The only setting that seemed not to turn off almost immediately was Fan. Room temperature never very comfortable there entire stay. Bed—-uggh! Lore and squishy. One thin tob sheet/bottom sheet, thin blanket and thin top cover. Sink—while washing face heard water draining below counter area. About half the water that went down the drain leaked somehow onto the floors. Even worse, got drainage to the floor when next fire neighbor used their sink. Just glad the toilet wasn’t involved. This place could do much better if they just invested a little time and money into it.

Welcome to 1970
I stayed here as i had an early train from Union Station which is less than 5 minutes walk away. Olvera Street is even closer which is well worth a visit and Philippe The Original, which is fantastic, is just a coiple of minutes walk. That said, the whole area feels quite sketchy and unsafe at night. The hotel looks awful from the outside and is little better when you step in. My room was on the 4th floor and the corridors leading to it were dark and dreary. The room was spacious but very dark with worn out carpets, ancient furniture and little natural light. The bed was hard and uncomfortable and it got very cold during the night. The only positives were the decent shower and free, stong Wi-Fi.
