First off I’ve stayed here many times cause it’s functional like leeches for bloodletting. And I will continue to go back. It’s the intersection between hard working immigrants running a hotel and their near homeless clients. I never know what to expect, only that it’s a study of the other half (not the bill gates kind). It’s noisy, spartan, and somewhat dubious. I would definitely not recommend this place or the are if you are a single female traveler. Anyhow the location is walking distance from Union station and steps from rolled tacos on olvera street. Lots of homeless and parties at night. There is a parking lot in the back and if there is an event nearby just know you will be woken up by cars, alarms and general howling. It borders Chinatown, olvera street and blocks from Japantown. It’s cheap, but I can’t recommend this place without one of those “I told you so”. But as I said I will return cause I’ve showered with mosquito ladened water on tropical outposts sleeping on sweat filled foam mattresses of past travelers. And compared to that this is the ritz.

Was ok for station location nice big bed functional best describes
The temperature of the shower water was not consistent. It would fluctuate from warm to cold and I had to fiddle with the knob to get a decent temperature. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is not the greatest, but it is in walking distance from Union Station.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Looks like renovations are in progress. I definitely can see their vision. It was a safe environment, and staff ensures safety is of up most importantance. The room was dated, and big, and was equipped with a mini fridge, a table and two chairs. It's definitely a place I will have future stays.
The Metro Plaza was a great hotel. It had everything I look for in a vacation stay: convenient location; affordable; easy check-in; excellent staff; clean and safe. Also the new room renovations offer a modern and appealing design, especially the shower area (one thing: a soap holder would be a nice touch),
Lastly, let the management and staff know that I appreciated the friendly an professional help they provided me during my visit.
Front desk very helpful and nice. They will bend over backwards to get you towels or iron. The building interior is feels like its from the 70s & the hallways & furniture, bedding, restroom etc. really really dated in a bad way
Location near Union Station is perfect. The property is clearly worn down and post signs about long-term reconstruction beginning in 2023. The housekeeping staff was particularly helpful. The front desk not so pleasant.
The room I was initially assigned did not allow the door to be locked from the inside. The deadbolt lock did not fit into the framework of the door. The housing staff confirmed this and told me to return to the front desk for a reassignment.
