You pay for everything
The hotel & marina was nice. The room was comfortable. The view of the seals & pacific ocean was beautiful. But, you have to pay for everything, such as parking, either valet or by the day, its $40. No free breakfast, though it opened early for the guests, you still needed to pay. About $15 pp (No alcohol). Also, the hotel automatically charges for the lifestyle amenities, such as bikes, paddleboards, etc, even if you dont use them. This is why the overall score was 4 stars & not 5. Nice location, comfy rooms & service was excellent! Just be prepared to pay!

We did not receive our VIP amenity or upgrade. There was a reggae concert next door that was very loud in our room. Our balcony was 10 feet away from the valet parking. There is no full length mirror in the room and the bathroom is poorly lit. This was not a good value for the price we paid. We tried to get a glass of wine and a beer from the “Living Room” lobby bar and were told we would have better luck going to the restaurant across the street 😳

If you like ants all over your room, no room service, $40 dollar parking and multiple 9am wake up calls on not only your hotel phone but your guest phone over something as stupid as another guests toothbrush falling onto your balcony.. this place is for you. I’ve expressed my concerns with my stay with multiple staff members over the course of two days of my stay and I was quieted with a $100 dollar credit. Be very weary of this property..

Standard California Style hotel. Bathrooms were refreshed. The star of the show was the bay. You could hear seals and people in canoes. Fog was beautiful. This property remind me of Argonaut hotel in SF!

Came with my elderly mother and daughter and we got upgraded to an ocean room after I called multiple times letting them know we couldn't get one and my mom might not see the ocean many times more. The rooms were clean and fresh, the staff was great and the Balleen was incredible for dinner and breakfast.

Portofino Inn is a favorite property and is located in Redondo Beach CA where I grew up. The Front Desk was understaffed. Just to ask simple questions, I had to wait several minutes. Upon check-in, some of the amenities and promos weren’t explained well, the gentleman checking me in was difficult to understand. My room was clean and comfortable and I loved the veranda overlooking the ocean side. The bathroom fan did not work. The bathroom lighting was unusually substandard, very dim. The bed was great and I slept well. I had a parking issue that I seem to have gotten two or three versions of what I can do and not. Front Desk said I have self parking, gave me a room key that opened the gate to parking, valet also opened the gate for me when I told them I parked there two nights w/o concern, the 3rd night an employee told me I can’t park where I was, which led to a conversation with the front desk, the woman was very professional, she took me out to speak with the valet man, who I found unfriendly and antagonizing. I felt my good guest experience was deteriorating fast especially because it seems young and inexperienced employees know nothing about customer interaction & service, and are fine with making no allowance and altering what was a positive guest experience. The tall, light haired valet guy needs training so that he understands there’s an opportunity to satisfy a customer who has a complaint, and not just state the rules and show disrespect. Baleen was excellent.

Beautiful location. Loved seeing seals from window. Staff friendly. But considering the price, hotel seems a bit down and in need of refresh. $40 a day for parking a daily resort fee when there are literally no resort amenities. $8 for a bottle of water in your room. I wouldn't rush back.
