Mike, who checked me in, was very friendly and communicative, giving me good advice on places to eat within walking distance. The place is obviously of 1960s vintage and while the furniture in my room was showing some wear, my space was very neat and clean as was the lobby. Good choices at the free breakfast bar. It would be nice if the adjacent Franks's cafe was open for business but I think they are doing better renting it out as a location for TV shows, movies and commercials, there are photos all over the lobby showing what productions have used it which is fun to see.

Perfect value. It’s got the classic, old school L.A. motel vibe. No frills, no drama, just a clean, comfortable stay. Staff was very helpful and ample parking right by my door. Downtown Burbank was just across the bridge, with walkable street lined with local restaurants and shopping. Would ABSOLUTELY stay there again.

I inadvertently booked my stay here in error, however because I was unable to cancel we decided to stay. The beds were comfortable and I understand continental breakfast was included, it also appeared the lobby offered a microwave. It is obvious management continues to do improvements to an older property which priorities such as the beds and bathroom were appreciated. The room furnishings, phones and remotes did indicate age, and the built ins did show some wear which for a frequent traveler does give pause but my sensitivity to these was due to my co-traveler and these preferences can certainly be fixed on a room to room basis - which is likely ongoing. The staff was friendly and because it was a short stay we were primarily out and returned to sleep and shower, with no issues, making it a budget friendly choice in a good location, close to downtown Burbank.

This hotel is pretty close to Universal Studios and to Hollywood. There weren’t too many dining options close by. The pillows need to be replaced.

The manager really cared about guests and making sure they had what they needed. The continental breakfast was nice and had multiple options that were refilled quickly. The rooms were spacious and clean. Good location to Universal, only about a 12 minute drive.

I stayed at the Portofino Inn again. I spoke with the owner about his pots last time. They’re amazing. This evening I witnessed half a dozen hummingbirds—teensie-tinesy, only native here, swarming over his agaves in bloom. He gave me tips about growing Aeonium, with which I’ve failed twice. He’s really gone all out. And you think we have too many pots! It’s a magical little place, this. Very much deserving of praise, a true diamond in a sea of rough. You can easily see the thoughtfulness of the owner when you sit back and take in the attention to detail. I know everyone recalls modest places like this that just make you feel good—not fancy, just lovely. A perfect lavender sunset over the mountains as the backdrop, framed by a few towering palms that seem to defy gravity. The owner and his modest inn are referenced under “charm” in the dictionary. It makes me want have a cup of tea, put on a cardigan, and just be silent and still. I love it.

We have stayed here many times over the years, and you can tell that they are updating and improving a bit each year. Great friendly staff near quite a few small restaurants and near enough to various studios too. Our room was very clean but did have a few cosmetic things such as a broken small shelf in shower, some worn thru spots on furniture but again just cosmetic. We liked that there was a small fridge and microwave and a small set of outside tables near breakfast area. parking was right outside our room. Breakfast had a variety of juices, milk, coffees. Some bagels, pastries and breakfast wrapped snacks and pastries for on the go. If you are lucky enough you might see a film crew filming at franks restaurant diner which is on the property. We happened to be there and watched the setup, the actors coming and going and it was a fun behind the scenes look. Nice motel/hotel, no big fancy frills but clean and friendly place.

A hidden gem. Not fancy, not new, not glitzy, but perfect for a few nights, Alfredo and Anna as well as the entire front desk staff are exceptional and accomadating. Their customer service was top notch. I was in a handicapped room and would of appreciated a mat in the shower as it was a bit slick and I must be cautious of falls. I also felt the bed pillows could be upgraded :-) but all in all, two thumbs up!!!
