Beach access is second to none for the price. They even had a bunch of beach toys for our toddler so that was amazing. Room was great and the bathroom had an excellent shower for washing the sand off. We stayed in the two bedroom suite and that was great to be able to sleep in a different room than our little one. Not have an AC was no big deal, we kept our windows open pretty much every minute of the day and it cooled off quickly in the evening.

I had such an amazing stay here. The building is a bit older, but it still has that vintage charm. We were upgraded to the deluxe sweet! It was soooo nice! Clean and accommodating. The views were so nice too! The beach is literally a 2 minute walk from the hotel and its about a 5 minute walk to all kinds of bars and restaurants. The staff was helpful, friendly, and super knowledgeable not only of the hotel but of the area as well. It was everything we wanted and more. Will definitely be coming back!

The location is unbeatable; we absorbed the pulse of the strand while enjoying our morning coffee and evening sunset happy hour while viewing this magnificent South Bay area of SOCAL. The experience truly felt like our home and we enjoyed the relaxed, charming vibe that the Vurpillat exudes....It was one memorable trip that we both cherish. It was indeed-difficult to leave....

Great location, great value.

What a great property right on the strand. Is it the Ritz, no. It’s an old building with a lot of charm and well kept. Jay and staff are amazing and very responsive. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.

The hotel is such a gem on the beach. Everything is walking distance, beach, restaurant, shopping, and playing. The hotel is adorable and very unique SoCal beach style. The price is very reasonable and with best staff/manager also. You just can't ask for more. Some of the kitchen appliances need to be updated for proper use.

I’m fortunate 2 travel a lot & stay at plenty hotels… this experience was mixed… the location is great because it’s walkable 2 the pier & other social/restaurant/shopping options… the hotel has character & theres some nice choices in the room that make it unique… there was a hostel feel 2 this hotel. There’s furniture in the hallway that feels like it should be put away out of view… the windows in the room functioned poorly & should be replaced… felt a little unsafe especially being so close 2 the walk path & alley… i really do hope some upgrades are made 4 safety, aesthetics & cleanliness while maintaining the character of this hotel… i would refrain from recommending it 2 others right now. Peace & bestings.

Beach Front Reasonably Priced with Added Charm

The hotel itself is actually an old historical building. Each room has so much character and charm. Our particular room had a full kitchen along with an amazing beach front view. Literally, steps away from the sand. The building remains locked and needs a code to get into. There is no hotel parking, but they do give you a permit to park on the streets. With that being said, everything is walking distance. Bars, restaurants, cafes, there is no need to even leave. Lastly, Jay was an incredible! He gets 5 stars for himself lol. He was very accommodating and made sure we were taken care of. All in all, great experience and would highly recommend to someone looking for a beach front stay.

We had a fantastic stay at this beautifully restored 1923 hotel. The location is unbeatable—right on the beach and just steps from great restaurants and shops. The historic charm has been thoughtfully preserved, and the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating throughout my visit. While the room wasn’t very soundproof and got a bit warm, these were minor issues compared to the overall experience.
