Wonderful little independent hotel handy for our trip to Leicester.
Booked two rooms - both comfortable and fine. Room 7 however had a large extractor fan right outside the window and was a little noisy.
Only fault in an otherwise excellent stay with a fantastic optional breakfast. Particularly polite and helpful staff.
Staff are lovely and friendly. Food is very nice, good selection of drinks. You can sit in the large garden watching the steam and deisel trains go by. Room is a good size and had all the facilities you need, comfy bed. This is a budget room and you get what you pay for
20 minutes for 4 people to check into 4 rooms. Run-down and shabby room with sticky carpet. Radiator that couldn't be turned off so extremely warm and uncomfortable at night. Shower in room that didn't work properly. No soap or shower gel provided. Sharp remnants of a cable pin sticking out of wall next to bed which I caught my arm on. 4 breakfasts that were pre-ordered but completely wrong when the food arrived. Blase and disinterested staff who accepted no responsibility for any of the problems and never offered an apology. Overall a dreadful experience.
From the outside the hotel is disappointing and the room was even worse. Check-in was pretty disastrous - really onerous terms & conditions. There was a pillow missing to start with on entering the room. The fabric of the room was tired and the bathroom was out of the seventies with a shower that was a trickle at best - dangerous to use due to a lack of a bath mat. The room was so hot a portable fan had been put in place but no one could have slept with it on. The bed's mattress needed changing as it had a gradient. TV could not be used as it was so small and could not be viewed from the bed and the chairs provided were hard as nails. Did not have breakfast as you had to fill out a form just like in hospital. The room looked out onto the kitchens so I'm glad I gave it a miss. I will certainly never stay there ever again. Completely overpriced and bad value - worst Hotels.com Hotel I have ever booked. Needs a visit by the Hotel Inspector!
The stay was as expected. The staff were brilliant but the rooms were on the small side and felt very cramped. The service was marred by covid (bar not open late into the evening and shortage of some staff), but they seemed to be making the best they could.
We are extremely disappointed to arrive home and find a further invoice from Experia, which the hotel and your own online assistant cannot find any reason for. I am still waiting for confirmation this invoice does not need paying, and the reason it was sent. This was promised by Darelle, your online assistant.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
A very enjoyable stay at the Cedars
Food at dinner was fairly simple but well presented and quality was excellent. Breakfast was very nice as well. Service was pretty quick. Location is perfect for trainspotters from the Steam Garden and is a short walk from the station. The B & B backs on to the Great Central Railway tracks. We needed a bit more warmth one night and a duvet was offered immediately with a smile at the ungodly hour of 11.45 p.m.
Had the one night, staff really friendly and polite, good service, had dinner and breakfast both meals were lovely, beds were really comfy, room we had was perfect for us to see the trains on the GCR, will definatley book again next time we stay down there.
first impression when entering the hotel was wow as it looked just like the Hotel.com pictures, however I was then informed that there was no food available as the kitchen was closed which meant going out again.
On reaching the room it didnt look anything like the pictures shown on Hotel.com.
The TV was smaller than some computer monitors these days the décor was tired with rust patches that fell off the bathroom radiator.
Shower curtains looked as if they had not been washed / changed in a while as they were grey.
The shower ran off the bathroom taps and had no thermostat.
The room was warm but appeared to get very hot during the night, it was also very noisy with lots of creaking noise from the room above from people moving around.
On a positive note the Bed was comfortable and an effort had been made to update the room with what appeared to be a Ikea Table and Chair.
Free car parking was available on site but was rather full on some evening with the number of vans parked there.
The Cedars would not be my first choice for a stay in Loughborough.
The room we stayed in was very dated and i didnt expect that from the photos shown online. The carpet and walls were stained, a mud stained towel was found on top of the wardrobe and we don't know how long it had been there unseen. A lot of updating is required. But the staff were very lovely and the food was good, the garden is a lovely place to sit and have a drink seeing the steam trains go by.
