I really liked the hotel. We've paid much more for hotels that weren't as nice. BUT when we checked in we were told breakfast ended an hr later than it did so we missed it AND the thing that would make me think twice about staying again at a Wingate is that I, as a 5' woman, almost literally had to jump to get into the bed because it was so high. Really a challenge! & for no good reason.

Overall the hotel was old and dirty. There is no water pressure and the body wash dispenser was empty. The elevator was dirty and none of the buttons light up for the floors.

Checked in a night early and while the staff that night was very helpful, I woke up with numerous bites on arms and legs. Confirmed by doctor they are bed bug bites. Reported to hotel to ensure no one else experiences the same, to be met with lack of empathy or concern. Bites were very much raised, leaving wrist noticeably swollen and red due to how many bites in the area. Still, I was asked if I had an allergic reactions to something, when you can see these are not hives or small rash. Checked out a day early due to the amount of discomfort, when doing so, we were asked if anything was wrong…by the same person we raised the concern to.

Ants!
Our stay was not so good. We were scheduled for two nights, however the morning after our first night we woke up to ants in both beds. Our clothes that were laid out in the table for the next morning also had ants all over them. The the hotel had us load up all of our stuff and move to another room. They then stated that they could only give us a 30% discount in a future stay with them.

We booked a two room queen, with the picture it showed a couch and the details stated it slept 5, I showed up with 5 people, 2 adults and 3 kids. They put us in a small two bed only room and refused to give me the room I booked without paying for an upgrade. I requested to speak to management and the manager refused to speak with me. The room was filthy, the walls are gross with marks and stains. The shower is half broken and there was a bug. The walls and floors are dirty and you can tell no one deep cleans anything. The towels were torn. The bathroom door didn’t really work, my 10 year old couldn’t open it on her own. The fridge was gross and rusted. Breakfast wasn’t great either. You can tell management is really cheap.

I've stayed here three times in the past year because the location is convenient and when there is a special on the price ($75 a night or less) I think it is worth it. It seems like it was a pretty good property a couple of years ago and now the maintenance isnt keeping up with the traffic. The mattresses in the room i had about a month ago were really soft in the middle and needed replacement. The last time i stayed there i got a much nicer mattress but the soap dispenser appeared to have been pulled off the wall and i had to walk downstairs to get soap. There was only a soap dispenser in the shower the time before with only lotion at the bathroom sink so you had to lean into the shower to wash your hands. The bathrooms during my last two stays were a bit grungy. That said, it is a decent value for the price when on special, the staff is friendly but overworked (and undermanned), and you get breakfast.
