This was my second stay at this hotel, so clearly I was prepared to stay again. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, a real asset. Breakfast is good. Hotel is in a good location and has parking included. Very short walk to the city walls. Reception closes at 6.30pm, and we arrived at 7.30pm. Hotel contacted me with late check-in info on day of arrival, all very easy. The hotel was a great base for us for 4 nights.

On arrival, the driveway is quite narrow, with adequate parking spaces. The welcome reception is at the end of the garden. 4 couples arrived at the same time, and with one receptionist taking each couple back up to the house to show room/entry instructions, it took a quite to get checked in. They offered food and drinks whilst waiting, but the reception room was full of mosquitoes/gnats, so it wasn't pleasant to wait there. The room was traditional. We couldn't get the shutters to close properly, so light and noise came in from the main road in front of the property. The bed was a too soft for us. The buffet breakfast was adequate, typical European fare. The checkout took a while, because the receptionist left the premises and the cleaner didn't speak English and found it hard to communicate with the 3 couples waiting to pay/hand back keys. The location was excellent, literally across the road from the walled entrance of Lucca.

The room was very comfortable and nice and close to the walls of the historic centre of Lucca. We have two suggestions: A sign needs to be put on the front door directing people around the back of the building to the reception/check in. There is a sign over to the side about half but not in a noticeable area until standing there confused for several minutes and trying to ring an unanswered buzzer. When I mentioned to our host at check in that we didn't seen the signs to find her around the back she said "other people have said that, too". I would think that creates an excellent reason and opportunity to fix that so people don't feel stuck and lost. Only other comment for attention is that the outlets on either side of the bed differ from the other plug configurations we saw in Italy and therefore our adaptor would not work. The only plug that would fit was near the toilet in the bathroom. The breakfast was lovely.

It was an amazing 2 days. Property is really beautiful, staff is great and helpful, it is walking distance (2 minutes) to old city porta elisa, the breakfast was really good, the garden is peaceful and having parking was just awesome. Hope to stay here again!!

Just outside the city wall (which is perfect because you can park and then walk over to the pedestrian area inside the walls). Cute property, clean, nice breakfast with plenty of options. Overall good value-we already booked it again for our second trip to Lucca next month.

Svennson Family Lucca visit

We’re on a crusade through Italy and Lucca was one of the stops. The Villa was a large family home for a wealthy family once upon and now converted to a charming boutique hotel. Well located, minutes from the old town Very nice room, we had a two-bedroom room, and well equipped bathroom. Breakfast was great and service phenomenal!

This is a very nice refurbished villa in Lucca. It was a short walk to one of the entrance gates of Lucca. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The breakfast is a nice start to the day. This is one of three villas that you can choose from in this privately owned group.
