Excellent couple of days, only black mark was breakfast, not very good quality or choice, tea/coffee was cold, tasteless soda bread and why do we keep having to ask for butter, the wife and I had 4 portions of toast on our plates yet 1 portion of butter ! Evening meal was excellent in all respects.

Great location with free parking

Great couple of night stay with friends. Perfect location with free car parking a definite bonus. Clean and comfortable room and good substantial breakfast. Would definitely book again. Booked slot for pool and jacuzzi which was fantastic.

Great location, friendly staff but tired decor

We booked for the location, pool and free parking. After booking, the hotel contacted us to apologise that the pool would not be open for our stay. And they then said the small car park was first come, first served. To save any hassle, we decided to park in one of the town carparks, not realising it was quite so steep - £23 for 25hrs. When we checked in, we noticed the pool on the CCTV - it was in use after all, but they hadn’t told us (so we hadn’t bright swim stuff). They were apologetic, but what can you do at that point? After going out for dinner, we came back to relax and watch TV only to find out the TV didn’t work - and couldn’t be fixed that evening. So no TV either! The member of staff was apologetic but there was nothing she could do as it was a problem with the aerial. She did offer us a drink, but we didn’t want anything else, so weren’t able to take her up on the offer. Fortunately the breakfast (which we paid for separately) was good, and again the staff were friendly, warm and professional. This was the only saving grace really. The hotel is really old - which in itself is quite charming - if you like wonky floors. But it’s really in dire need of a sympathetic renovation. The carpets are wrinkled and worn, the beds are basic (think stripy bed base, velvet headboard stuck to the wall, sprung mattress - the kind where you feel every movement). It’s expensive for what it is and despite its great location, and hospitality, it was rather disappointing.

Enjoyable stay

I had a lovely stay at the Royal Lion. The service was excellent and my room was lovely. I wasn't entirely happy with the cleanliness as the carpet was quite grubby but apart from that, it was good and I'd definitely go back again.

The hotel has a lovely ambience throughout. Our bedroom was gorgeous and breakfast was perfect. Location couldn't be better for exploring Lyme Regis and car parking took all the stress out of the break. Definitely recommend

Great hotel highly recommended

We had an amazing time at Lyme Regis and the hotel played a large part in that, the room (19) was clean and well equipped with everything you’d want… the pool and jacuzzi were a wonderful addition, although the sauna was out of order. The staff went out of their way to be friendly , welcoming and helpful. The television didn’t work on the channels but had a DVD player inbuilt and external connections.. Would definitely love to stay again, thank you 🙏 ..

This is lovely property. Simple in it’s furnishings but adequate for our needs. Quiet room in a court yard, tea coffee hot chocolate , biscuits and water provided. Ate in the restaurant too and the food was good. Staff friendly would visit again.

Excellent location, our front room was spotless with a bay window though the traffic was very noisy from early morning. Also a pity that, despite being told about my friend's gluten intolerance, no.attempt was made at breakfast or on the evening menu to accommodate. Only one staff member apologised each of the three mornings A good cafe opposite and the Co-Op saved her,
