Many mosquitoes in the room, no heater, poor wifi connection, moldy tiles, light that doesn’t work, and hairs of previous guests in shower and on the floor. Stale breakfast. Very disappointing hotel except for the location. Booked 2 nights but left after one night.
The water was out at Ratama but they automatically transferred us to hotel Tara next door which was great, including 5am breakfasts for those getting an early start to MachuPichu

WiFi did not work for entire visit
It was hard to regulate the shower water each morning.
The sink is designed in such a way that if you are not careful the faucet sprays right into you. It wet me
Big time. There is no ventilation in room - except for a window that leads to hallway so you have to balance between keeping it open for some air and therefore hearing all the noise from the hallway/ street.

it was in a quiet part of town, and it was easy to get the bis to machu picchu from there, also all the reaturants around that part of town are great, the people are so friendly and helpful

The staff was very helpful, but it was a bit noisy and there were quite a few bugs in my room, especially at night.
When we arrived late night there was no hot water. The staff worked diligently to get the issue fixed. This is a family run hotel where they take pride in providing a great stay for their guests. From meeting us at the station to preparing a sack breakfast for our early morning adventure to Machu Picchu the service was excellent. We spent two nights here and had a wonderful experience.
Hotel Retama is about half way up the hill in Agua Calliente. It is easy to find. As with all the hotels, there are lots of stairs. Make sure you request a room on the lower floors if you can't do stairs. The staff were great, and the breakfast was good. There were 10 in our group and we were able to go to Machu Picchu early in the morning, leave our bags there and have their staff deliver the bags to the train station. What a great service! It was very noisy at this hotel. It sounded like we were three doors down from a disco that didn't stop their music until around 4:00 am. We were told there was a celebration the night we stayed there for the anniversary of the village. So, not sure if it is that noisy normally.

The staff was friendly and the breakfast was decent enough to get you going before Machu Picchu. I was also a fan that it was incredibly close to the hot springs. To warn everybody, it is nearly at the top of the hill so if you're already exhausted, the uphill trek is rough. I also had a room that had a window facing a plaza so listening to people all through the night was unpleasant. The window was also not completely closed so bugs and mosquitos ate me alive throughout the night. The room was humid and hot

The room has a piece of window missing! It was noisy at night. Also the shower drainage is blocked.
The staff were friendly but the breakfast was very minimal. Also the shower didn’t work most of the time. Additionally, no AC and the room was filled with flies and mosquitos prior to arrival due to all the windows being opened. It was very hot and humid in the room. You get what you pay for. In a good area tho.
The staff is excellent! Picked us up from the train station late at night and guided us to the hotel for check in and accommodation. The area is very safe and convenient location.
Good budget property - clean, but way too much fragrance in the rooms. Simple but nice breakfast. This is a no frills hotel and for the price it was fair. Travelers on a budget should consider staying. Travelers with greater means can find nicer.
