Very nice just a little bit out of the mix of thing. Great pool and hot tub. Like the out door fires at night. The porch was also very nice to sit and watch the people and water

The only issue we had any problem with is the elevator doesn’t go to the 4 th floor so we had to carry our luggage down which was challenging.

Why did I say good overall when giving other areas 5 stars.? It is in an excellent location and the staff were fabuous. The grounds are beautiful! It's just that for this much $ per room, the amemities (towels, bath products, glassware (not), room temp control) are not 5 star. The restaurant server was excelent but don't bother paying for the keylime tart. Did like the coffee in the morning and the fudge at night.

Nice place, not sure I would come back.
The hotel is historic and lovely with a great location. The porch and firepits were great. The lobby is warm and welcoming. The room was small but clean but it was VERY loud. The first night, kids playing in the hallways, knocking on doors til after 2am when i called and asked to please help us and then at 7am, we were awakened by the cleaning staff slamming into our door making their way to other rooms yesterday, today shampooing carpets. If you would like to sleep in or get some rest on your getaway, this is not the place to stay. The front desk was apologetic but I feel like 7am is too early to be waking guests. (obviously they did not cause the kids to run around, they did help when I called) It is a pricey stay for so little quiet.

Our Island House stay was perfect! The location couldn’t be better…within walking distance of shops, restaurants & state park hiking trails. The hotel also had the best prices in town for bike rental & Casey, who rents the hotel’s bikes was friendly & accommodating! The 1852 Grill Room had the absolute best prime rib we’ve ever tasted!! All in all we would highly recommend The Island House Hotel.

Not Worth the Price - Needs Major Updates Despite Recent Renovations I recently stayed at the Island House Hotel on Mackinac Island and was disappointed with my experience. The hotel was renovated in 2021, but it seems they cut corners and didn’t fully remodel. Although the staff was incredibly friendly and tried to make my stay better with a room upgrade, the facilities themselves need significant improvement. The bed in my room was extremely uncomfortable, squeaky, and seemed very old—like it hadn’t been updated. The linens were stained, and the outdated bathtub was in need of a refresh. While I appreciated the 24/7 water and coffee in the lobby and the kindness of the staff, it didn’t make up for the noisy environment and lack of in-room phones, which made it difficult to contact the front desk about issues. Overall, although the staff was wonderful, the hotel doesn’t justify its price without more thorough upgrades. I wouldn’t recommend staying here until they address these issues.

I really liked that it was one of the hotels that took the luggage from the ferry without us having to make special arrangements. I didn't give it 5 stars because of a couple of things. They closed one of the restaurants for the season so that limited dining options. And 2, the bathroom. I've stayed in historic old hotels before, and even the most basic room had a beautiful, functional bathroom. This room had a tiny and very cheap bathroom. The tub/shower was one of the one piece, molded plastic things. Very tacky. There was no slip protection in the tub and I almost slipped and fell in the tub a number of times. The room was so small that the door(opening inwards) almost touched the front of the toilet. We had to straddle the toilet to open the door. The toilet paper was so cheap we were raw by the end of our stay. The sink area (which was in the bedroom area( was tiny and very close to the bed, making it intrusive to use when someone was sleeping the bed. And finally there were only wood blinds on the window. No curtains or shade. Very bad if you were up late because we were awakened at the crack of dawn. The staff at this hotel was absolutely amazing. Everyone we interacted with from the front desk to the restaurant was friendly, helpful, and gave excellent service. For the price they really need to work on those bathrooms.
