I gave the staff a 1 only because I was waiting for the elevator. When it arrived, a staff member was in it with a large bin of dirty laundry. She was on her phone. She saw I was waiting and she continued texting on her phone for at least 30 seconds not getting out of the elevator and blocking it from anyone getting in. Another staff member that was in the hall with me said something to her and she just made a nasty comment. I found that very rude. I wasn’t in a hurry but I also don’t appreciate rudeness. All the other staff so far have been awesome

Very nice Hotel

Very nice hotel. Got there a little early and we were able to check in. Good location to town and the boat docks, all within walking distance. Front desk staff was friendly.

We had a nice stay in the hotel, the beach was really nice, even though the water was cold. The rooms were a bit dark. It was great that breakfast was included, but I didn’t like that breakfast was served from 7-9 am. It would be great if the breakfast was served at least until 10 am. Regardless, I recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to Mackinaw City.

Ferry tickets

We bought our ferry tickets from the front desk. They stated to arrive 45 minutes to an hour before it takes off. We wanted to the 10:20 ferry to go over the bridge. We checked in at the dock and they put us in line. It was 15 mins and we were on the ferry already and found we were on the wrong scheduled ferry. We were on the 9:30 ferry and didn't get to go unde the bridge. So, I guess what I'm trying to say... is the desk didn't know the correct time to be at the dock. It was a bit disappointing.

The hotel has a really weird smell and then when we got into our room there was a different strange smell. The bedroom was fine, just really dated. However the bathroom in the room was rough. There was mold on the ceiling, water damage that was not fixed on the ceiling, the toilet needs to be re-caulked and some of the tile trim was missing. Also, the power went out for 4 hours in the early morning and when I asked about it at checkout, the lady at the front desk was snippy. We were not told about breakfast and had to ask other guests to figure out where it was. Overall, not a good experience. Would not recommend.

Only one elevator for the whole hotel was not good. Long waits to use it. Weird how breakfast was on 3rd floor. Long waits to use the elevator to get up there or had to take the stairs. Also didn’t like that the breakfast was only from 7 to 9. People on vacation do not want to get up super early just to beat the rush of people getting breakfast. Even if we slept till 8, by the time we showered and waited for the elevator it was already past 9.

Ok but not worth the money.

Rook was ok. Clean but overpriced. Beach was rocky without chairs or amenities. The free breakfast was over at 9 which was not functional for a family vacation. When I did make it to breakfast it was not good. Watered down coffee, watery scrambled eggs and what looked like boiled ham. Mackinaw City is an overpriced tourist trap with subpar food and service. Better to spend the extra money and stay on Mackinac Island; At least the food and service will be good and much better views.

All the employees were very nice!! I had a street view corner room. Room was very large and I could see a little bit of Lake from one window. Bathroom a little small but was fine. Didn’t use indoor pool or jacuzzi but looked very clean! Very close the Ferry’s and Shepler’s picked us up from hotel and will bring you back! The walk is not far at all! We took the ride because it was pouring out! Definitely would stay again but would get a lake view or walkout!!
