Nice hotel

It’s a nice hotel, nothing fancy. Best thing about the room was the shower. It’s fantastic! If I ever go back there, I wouldn’t take the breakfast option, it’s not worth the money for what they serve. The fresh fruit salad was the tastiest thing on the buffet. Although I paid ahead for breakfast, I skipped it one morning because there was a family in the hotel who allowed their child to run around the dining room screeching, the first two mornings I was there. There was nothing relaxing about breakfast therefore and it was obvious the staff said nothing to the family, despite complaints.

This was my first time at any Motel One property. The positives include that it is centrally located, the entry set-up is welcoming, the room was spacious and the people who worked there were friendly and helpful. The downsides for me are based on any hotel advertising as four stars, but they do not have the following: glassware in the room; immediate access to an iron or steamer for clothes; and a bed that was essentially two full size beds pushed together with a king sheet placed over it. This was also a reserve, no pay later property. Be careful about Euro conversions when it comes to the price. For this, I take more issue with Expedia's transparency than the hotel.

The hotel is in a very convenient location near the Royal Palace, Gran Via and the Metro station. There are also may restaurants within walking distance. The reception staff was amazing. However, the maid service was atrocious. Our floors were never mopped or swept and she would let the toilet supplies run extremely low before replacing. On our final day we came home after a day excursion and when we took a shower, we noticed that the empty bottle of hand soap was not replaced, However, that was not our main concern, but the dirty towels that we left on the floor were not exchanged but rehung. This was totally unacceptable and disgusting. I went straight down to reception in order to let them know. They could not believe what happened and immediately sent up some clean towels. This staff member should be immediately let go for this despicable behavior. So please check your towels thoroughly before using them after a shower.
