Quick one night stop over before catching flight home next day. Lovely friendly reception, but you need to let them know before arriving if you need parking. Don't assume there will be room when you arrive. We were fortunate. Room very large and clean and lovely modern bathroom.

Ok hotel.
Everything was great. The reception was accommodating in speaking English. The only issue is the poor design shower unit. Swing doors do not seal proper thus the floor soaking always. Be careful not to hit the tap the wrong way or you get super hot blast. No coffee maker just kettle for instant coffee. Restaurants in the area don’t have hours conducive to meals.

Great location - walking distance to beach, restaurants, old city, museum, and fortress. Beds are very comfy and AC is excellent. Lovely rooftop garden to watch the sun set in the evening. Breakfast is top rate - perfect coffee with hot milk, warm freshly-baked rolls and croissants, freshly squeezed orange juice, granola, and yoghurt.

This was just a two night stay following a trip to Granada that left us close to the airport. The Hotel is 5 minutes from the beach and about a 30 minute pleasant walk to the Cathedral and town centre. Hotel was clean and well presented. Staff were helpful and the breakfast excellent. All-in-all a pleasant stay.

Beautiful Hotel & Wonderful Staff
The staff at the Hotel California is extremely friendly. They provided information and help. The hotel itself is beautiful and clean. The room was comfortable, and had everything one can need. The location was perfect. It was a block from the beach, and walking distance to restaurants. It was a 5 minute taxi ride to the city center. We had a great experience and I highly recommend this hotel. It’s not in a super busy area which was great, since the busy area was a 5 minute walk away.

The hotel has no ramp, only the stairs and had to carry our luggage’s towards the reception. Breakfast is excellent. The personnel is friendly and ready to help. Would certainly go back.

This isn’t the best hotel in the world but it’s friendly, quirky and good value. Staff are great, very decent/ big breakfast. Decor is odd but cute. Room is really stuffy without use of fan and air con. Location ok, 15 mins out of centre. On bus route. Deffo worth checking out if on a budget.

The hotel is very near the beach which made it really easy tog back and forth multiple times a day (to siesta when it was very hot!). It’s also near a large supermarket to get water and snacks. The public transport is very close, with a bus stop directly outside the property and the buses taking you straight to the city centre. The rooms themselves were very nice and newly renovated with excellent air conditioning. Would definitely stay here again!

This place was a great! Maybe a little far from downtown and all the action, but everything about it was super nice and staff was very helpful! And it was steps from the beach, quick 5 minute walk :)

Bad experience, bad attitude from hotel management
On checking into our room, it had a string sewage smell. We opened the windows and doors and switched the fan on. After a few minutes the small was atill coming from the bathroom so I went to the reception desk to report it. The assistant gave us another room one level above the first one. We checked into this and it was fine. On leaving for dinner shortly afterwards I thanked the assistant, upon which he told us he checked our original room and it was fine, and didn’t understand why I complained. I reiterated that it smelled bad and he insisted I was wrong, with a really bad attitude. On returning to the room around 11pm we showered in cold water as there was no hot water. The air conditioning did not work, after at least an hour on cold, and with the extra fan in, the room was still hot. After our exchange earlier I wasn’t going to complain and turn the whole thing ugly. The following morning I reported the issues to the morning manager, and he said he was aware of the water problem, but it was now fixed, and we were on our way to the airport! He insisted the water temperature was 40deg the previous day, and that the air conditioning worked fine, I must have been using it incorrectly! Again a bad attitude. After a week of several hotels and superb experiences, this was by far our worst experience. If I visit Malaga again we would rather sleep in the car.

Best stay in Spain
Excelent stay, way above the expectations. We received a service ( room surface, amenities, patios, partial view at the see, clean room, breakfast, assistance at parking ) which makes this hotel to deserve 3 stars.
