There’s room for improvement.
The room was ok, but beds need new mattresses, because existing ones are uncomfortable. Also the rooms could do with updating as they look like the mid 80's. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food could be more varied and not so subject to the taste of the English guests. What bothered us was that English guests would get drunk in the evening and there wasn’t any quiet over the night on the balconies as well as on the streets around the hotel. I know that hotel stuff can’t do anything against uproar in the streets, but they could put up signs that guests should keep noise down or that the hotel must be quiet between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

We travelled as a family so we had a quadruple room, the room and balcony was small but for the little amount of time we spent in our room it was ok and the rooms were cleaned everyday.

Basic hotel, clean and good value.
I stayed here in a twin room with my son. The room was clean and the hotel was full of other families. Our room overlooked the pool and entertainment area and it often stayed rowdy until after midnight which might suit other people but my son is only 5. The entertainment was good though. The hotel is very dated and the restaurant service could be better... you don't get shown to an empty table so it was difficult to find a place to sit. The food was ok nothing.. breakfast was better than the evening meal selection.

Very well located, very clean, friendly staff. The all inclusive sistem isn’t very convenient because the guest always need to present the cards provided at the check in to get any drink. At the restaurant there are few options however very tasty. The beds are not confortable but the room was very clean. Good value for the money.

Good For Families, Maybe Not For Couples
I went to the H Top Planamar Hotel with my partner and four other family members. Four adults, one teenager and one 7 year old child. There was some confusion on arrival but that wasn't the hotels fault. It was the fault of hotels.com who despite my telephone call with them had assured me that my booking was all inclusive which it wasn't. This meant I had to pay an additional e140 for myself & my partner to take advantage of the all inclusive deal. The receptionist (Laura) handled this very well. The rooms are small but sufficient and cleaned daily by the maids who also replaced any towels/toiletries. as required. I would say this hotel is good value. It is by no means luxurious but had everything we needed. The card system for getting food and drinks needs a good looking into. Logistically it just didn't seem to work with queues at the bar, at breakfast, dinner and evening meal times. They need to look at how things are working or just adopt the usual all inclusive system of wristbands. The food was good not great, the drinks were fine and the pool / arcade kept the teen and child happy along with the great animation team. The pool was good but we didn't really have the weather to use it often although the children didn't seem to care and loved it. It is in a great location near to the beach, bars, restaurants, arcades and shops. The train station is a five minute walk away and we took a day out to visit Girona which was great. All in all we had a great time!!

Food standards have dropped markedly.
Staff are lovely and bar areas always clean. Entertainment doesn't vary much and the format hasn't changed since we stayed 2 years ago. The food quality and presentation is the main issue we have and we have to say the standards have dropped dramatically. Food was reprocessed in meals constantly and the cuts and quality of meat and fish was awful. Meat was tough,l & chewy being cheap cuts. Sometimes inedible. So called turkey was unrecognisable as that, lamb was just awful and ribs in sauce was so salty it tasted as if a whole bag had been dropped in there. Local delicacies and regional cooking were rarely on show and show cooking non-evident. We thought we had paid for a slightly better 3 bed room and on arrival were given a very poky twin bed room which once again was much poorer than the last time we stayed there. As returning customers we expected a much better reception and overall we were very disappointed. Animation team were disorganised and unprofessional. A duo act we saw on out last visit were probably the highlight although even their performance seemed jaded compared to previously. The flamenco act of 3 ladies one evening was however very good. This Hotel has nice location and the grounds are pleasant along with the majority of the staff. The whole experience could be however so much better.

Simply awful
This hotel is very dated and very shabby. The rooms are more like a bad hostal and the restraunt food is extremely poor and basicly the same each night. The staff are pleasant enough but I can not emphasise enough how poor the hotel is. The bar are is very unpleant and drink prices are extortionate, €13 for a gin and tonic and a Bacardi and coke. The rooms are very noisy as the walls are paper thin, you can hear every breath and more from the room next door. Do. It expect anything like a three star as this place really does not deserve any at all. Just avoid it and go to another hotel

Better than expected.
Went on a girls break for 3 nights all inclusive. Wasn't expecting too much for the price we paid and was pleasantly surprised. Had read some previous reviews and can only say you get what you pay for. Yes the hotel is rather dated but cleanliness was great. Staff were all very courteous and helpful. It amazes me that folk complain about the food. There was a vast array at lunch and dinner including rabbit, chicken, fish dishes etc. There was always an abundance of chips and ketchup for the fussy eater! There was pasta dishes and endless salad along with a variety of puddings and fresh fruit. Breakfast catered for all tastes for typical "english" breakfast abroad, continental style cheese/cold meats, fresh fruit, cereals etc. It poured with rain for the 3 days which meant many were couped up in the hotel complaining - but the hotel had some form of entertainment each night. It was a really cheap deal and for the price I couldn't fault it. If I wanted a luxury spa break, I would have went elsewhere and paid 3 or 4 times more. You get what you pay for.

Outdated and dangerous for children
Hotel was not very clean and very out dated certain things were a danger to young children e.g open doors leading to a 25 foot drop down stairs hotel was frequently told the risk to my 19 month old grandson but nothing done so I moved my son and his family into my hotel after 2 days.. frankly disgusted at safety issues
