A warm and friendly welcome at reception but spoiled by exceptionally loud music from the adjacent bar which was loud enough to put me off having a pre dinner drink there.
Everything in the room was great, worked well and was clean but it was one of the darkest hotel rooms that I have ever been in. Who thought to put the lighting in the bathroom behind the person using the sink. It was like shaving in the dark!
Great hotel. Slight problem with turning off my lights at night but they fixed in the next morning. All in all a comfortable place to stay and I shall be returning
Highly recommend the Express meal 3 course and drink for £19.50 which we had before going to the ballet. Otherwise prices quite steep. I can honestly say the full breakfast was possibly the best I have had in my 75 years. My wife's eggs benedict was also a treat. The coffee and juice were great. But looking at the continental breakfast on offer it didn't look appetising at all ....the melon and other 'fresh' fruits looked very dry indeed and some of the other offerings looked days old. Our room was quite nice but very dark with extremely poor lighting. The shower flooded the floor...the bath mat was sodden.....surely with all your experience you could design a shower that didn't do that? Move the shower head back 2 inches, or fit a sliding door..it's not rocket science. The bedside 'offerings' amounted to 2 thin biscuits each and a very average selection of teas and coffees. Not 'top-notch hotel'. We went to the top floor bar and ordered a couple of cocktails before our Express Meal on the ground floor. We waited and waited watched the three or four staff talking to each other and doing the odd bit of dusting. 15 minutes later no cocktails. Any apologies? No. A shambles.
Would we stay again? Probably....!
Veggie breakfast poor quality and not tasty at all. Not enough staff, 1 barman on sat night. No one on reception at 2250 sat night. Dust in room, coffee bags in room awful. Shower pressure really bad. Far too much money for what it is, i won't be coming back. Bathroom wall has cracks in.
Great find - I shall be staying again in two weeks
Generally 10/10. Terrific style and wonderful staff.
Mid-term room cleaning was disappointing and far too rushed. Bed not made, bins not emptied, used cups not changed, tea bags not replaced, etc. This might have been an oversight but I think it was pressure.
The hotel was beautiful and the staff lovely and friendly. We have eaten at Sora in York and the atmosphere was a little better there, we did have to wait a while for someone to serve us.
