Walked in to a musty smell, dated decor, edges of wallpaper lifting from wall, rusty bathroom light fixture. No wifi password or instructions on how to use the TV.
The Inn is located in a very busy commercial area along Rt. 28, but is set well back from the highway so it is quiet. The staff are welcoming, helpful and efficient. The room was clean with a comfortable bed, furniture was in good condition. The inn is located across the highway from the huge Tuscan Mall with its many shops and restaurants. And there are other good restaurants in the area as well. I even commuted to Boston from here one day since it's less than an hour away - and is far less expensive. than staying in the city. I found the Inn to be reasonably priced and will return again soon as I have for many years when I come to the Salem area.
Nice quiet place tucked into some trees right in the Salem business sprawl area outside the village. Unfortunately some other guests were loud during the night but not the norm; other time here was fine.
A no frills unpretentious place to stay. If you're looking for a quiet inexpensive place to stay, this is it. It's a convenient location. Maintenance is lacking and rooms need some updating. It is what it is. Not a place I'd take my wife, but was good enough for my short stay / business trip. Overall I'd give it 2.5 Stars. Parking was ample, and relatively well lit. Door key was a hassle. An actual key. There was a knack to getting the roon unlocked. First time took me almost 5 minutes. Literally. You gotta wiggle the key just right. Bed wasn't comfortable, at all. Slept poorly. Bathroom us an adventure. The door opens in. Im not a round person. I could just squeeze in between the door and vanity. Water pressure is lacking.
Room was a great value. Very clean. Has to be pretty once the leaves turn with all the trees on property . Everyone was nice and helpful. Restaurants across the street. There is a Samuel Adams Beer Garden across the street and liquor store 3 minutes away. Only bad thing was in room 49, the TV wouldn't work, Roku attached has no remote the TV remote would not work and the AC was loud and didn't seem to keep cool. Breakfast is coffee (which was surprising good), OJ and donuts.
We had an excellent stay at the Park View Inn in Salem this past weekend. I think they may have recently upgraded all the rooms because it looked like nothing the other rooms we have stayed in the past there. Had a great Roku TV with the addition of satellite tv. Bathrooms were very clean and fresh towels everyday. Beds had what seemed like new pillow top mattresses and great bedding, slept like a baby every night. The AC gets the room ice cold in warm weather which was great! There was a roomy desk for when I had to work and WIFI was excellent! The staff is super friendly and eager to help. We will continue to visit the PVI every year when we go up for the NASCAR event Louden, NH! Thanks for the great weekend!!
Lady at check in was not friendly and couple next door argued all night yelling and screaming and had to call for maintenance in the morning because we had no hot water and were told this happens when others are trying to take a shower at the same time to wait 15 minutes.
The property advertised breakfast with the stay. When we got there we were told it was coffee, tea, juice and doughnuts. That was disappointing as doughnuts is not breakfast. The rooms are not sound proof at all. We could hear the people beside us. The rooms have a strange smell. Thankfully it was only one night we stayed. The pillows were very lumpy.

Gets the Job Done
Smooth check-in process, hotel is surrounded by tons of shops and restaurants, room was sufficient. The room was a little dated but not a big concern for the price. The walls are very thin and I could hear everything going on in my neighbors’ room. Luckily I brought my ear plugs for sleeping. Overall I would stay here again for the price.

Disliked: Amenities
Normally a swell place, however, outside people are increasingly invading the premises and disturbing the peace.
Poor lighting and dirty sidewalks is something that should be addressed
