I just stayed here one night on my way from Picton to Franz Joseph. 2 hour car ride from the Ferry. My ferry was late so the staff made arrangements for me get my key as I arrived after hours. Electric blanket was a nice touch.

We loved our stay at the Palazzo in Nelson. We had a nice quiet room and the tips on where to eat and what to see were very much appreciated. Would stay here again in future.

While the property is well presented and the rooms and housekeeping very good, the same cannot be said about the staff. The front desk reception staff member spent over 10 minutes on a phone call before acknowledging my presence (and another guest checking in at the same time) and providing the room key. The staff in general around the property seem very ambivalent - customer service is certainly not part of their mantra.
