We stayed at The Charlee Hotel in Medellín, and our experience was very mixed. On the positive side, the concierge service was excellent — Santiago was incredibly attentive and made sure we had all the information we needed to feel safe and well-informed about the city and our tours. Our room was clean with beautiful views, and the breakfast, while nothing extraordinary, was decent and a nice way to start the day. Unfortunately, the service at the pool and rooftop bar was very disappointing. When we first went to the pool, we were told it was open, but no one was around to assist us — we couldn’t even get water. We asked for towels, were told they’d arrive in a few minutes, but no one ever brought them. Later that night, we decided to check out the nightlife at the rooftop bar. The host walked us in and handed us a card to scan the menu, but after that, we were completely ignored. Waiters passed us at least six times without stopping to take an order or even acknowledge us. After 20 minutes, we left and reported our experience to the front desk. When the manager came down, we mostly received excuses rather than a sincere attempt to address the issue. To make matters worse, at checkout I noticed they were charging me the resort fee again — and it was doubled compared to what I had already paid at check-in. There was also an additional “insurance” charge that I never agreed to, which they removed only after I questioned it. Note: heavy prostitution area

First and foremost, every staff member gave such a welcoming vibe. From reception, concierge, garage, and all other staff, they were friendly and their willingness to help really created great impressions throughout the stay. The double room I shared with my cousin was also great to walk into. The two beds (I think queens) were comfortable and felt fresh. There was also the extra lounging space with a panoramic view of the city. The window opens up to let in fresh air if you want some. The area is very close to Lleras so there is noise that goes on throughout the night, but between the bedroom and the extra room there is a sliding door. We never felt that we needed to close it, though and were still able to sleep fine. There is private parking below the hotel. There aren't many spaces for cars, but we only saw one other car a day or two during our stay. The Real restaurant had breakfast included in our rate. The food is delicious! A beef broth soup served daily, and two other dishes that rotate and always include at least one vegetarian option. Fresh fruit that rotates a couple selections daily. Breads, cereals, cheese and meat platter, salad, some pastries, and eggs your way. The omelets... so good. The gym has variety and plenty of equipment. It does get busy in the morning, but we still had no problem working out. And the Envy rooftop area was relaxing and the staff was attentive. Overall, it was a great decision to come here.

The location is great and the rooftop club with pool is fancy. But the breakfast is average and they don’t allow guests at all, which conflicts with their advertisements. I chose a room with a lounge area with couches and seats for at least five people (and the photos of the room on Hotels.com showed this) because I have friends in the city and wanted to invite them for a cocktail before going out. This was forbidden. But it is a cool place.
