Good stay but nothing spectacular

While the hotel was very clean and the staff very pleasant, our room was dark, gloomy and void of any decor with a very uncomfortable bed which made us not want to spend any time there. The breakfast was good with a decent selection and we appreciated the luggage hold and early check in. My Platinum IHG status was not recognized because I booked third party even after telling the front desk.

I enjoyed my stay at Holiday Inn Express Melbourne Southbank, Check in and out was a breeze, staff were friendly, room was clean and relaxing, 10 minute walk to the Flinders station, Crown casino and free tram station, breakfast buffet was so-so. Overall a pleasant experience.

When booked we requested joining rooms or rooms next o each other, called the day before to confirm and was told this was completed. yet we were booked on separate floors initially then on check in were changed to the same floor yet opposite ends of the hallway without any apology. service needs work. facilities were great and location amazing
