Close to a very nice Starbucks and mall. Convenient location. Clean. I was sad that the workout room had not even one yoga mat—seemed petty and ungenerous. One other problem—my first night there, a couple nearby was very very loud for an extended period of time (a bizarrely long period of time—can anyone’s climax last 45 minutes?!?!) and I asked hotel staff to please move me to a different room (far from the unpleasant noises) but my request was denied and I was told the hotel was sold out. I was disappointed that it took Security a while to look into my complaint (no one came out to look into the source of the noises after my first call, only after my second), and also I was disappointed that no effort was made by management to recompense me for the damage done to my stay or my night’s sleep (the noises occurred from 8-9pm Friday night and I’d had a long flight). But other than that a nice hotel.

What a well kept secret

Hilton Garden Inn Merrillville is a well kept secret. We had a spacious lobby that our group could gather in, quite comfortable and inviting. Although this Hilton does not offer a complementary breakfast they do offer a hot breakfast and microwave and snack options. You will find comfortable beds and a nice , clean bathroom.

I've never spent so much money on a hotel that did not offer a complimentary breakfast. They actually tried to charge us $18 for an adult breakfast on a $250/night room.

Clean but the bed was not comfortable at all.

The room was clean. The issue I had and was surprised is the comfort of the bed was similar to Motel6, I picked Hilton Garden because I used to stay in this hotel in Chicago and bed and pillow were very comfy. I woke up with back pain lasted all day. I had previous injury, and a comfy bed was the reason I picked Hilton Garden based on my previous experience in Chicago. The surrounding of the building like mowing needs some work or maybe it is not part of hotel facility. I will not stay in this hotel again if I travel to Merrillville.
