We have stayed at this hotel since before it became Barceló. We have stayed in different rooms and floors of this facility; this is our first time on the 5th floor. The 5th floor needs a bit of maintenance work other than this, everything else from staff, service, amenities and location this hotel is our choice every time we visit Mexico City.

I had a terrible experience at the Barcelo. The first day was okay, however the second day I was there a pipe completely bursted in the bathroom above the sink coming from the floor above us and wet absolutely everything in the bathroom; I called for maintenance and they said it was best to switch rooms. They gave us a new room 7 floors up. Everything to me was a small inconvenience until Monday morning we had a tour that required us to wake up and leave the hotel and 4:30am. I left my wallet in my purse inside the room I had $400 in American usd. I forgot to put it in the safe and when we got back at 4pm my cash was gone. Housekeeping stole my cash from my purse. I called security and they said there is nothing to be done they can start an investigation but it will take about 2-3 business days. Mind you, I will be gone by then. In other words the supervisor said if the money or any other valuables are not in the safe then it is not their responsibility of the items lost. After all the inconveniences that happened the only thing they could offer was a late check-out and one day breakfast. I travel a lot and stay at many hotels, resorts, airbnb and have never had anything stolen from me. We stay at a hotel and trust that everything is safe and their employees are trustworthy. I do not recommend this hotel or their employees. There needs to be a security background check for all employees. The fact that they were so freely to steal from guests and nothing that could be.
