I was pleasantly surprised staying in the crates. I have never stayed in a hostel but knew those participar rooms would be a similar experience as staying in one. I think I read on their page they described it as the “anti hostel.” The staff was nice and the simple breakfast included was a nice bonus. It is a popular bar at night so there will be some noise if you go to bed early but the crate rooms I stayed in wasn’t over the bar and they clear out the courtyard after a certain time so it’s not too late when the noise shuts down. Plus they do provide earplugs since the crates are in a shared space with other guests.

Great place to stay on the budget in the heart of Miami Beach. It can get a bit noisy but people are respectful for the most part. Breakfast is great.

It was friendly, clean and gay! The crates were awesome. It’s such a great idea. I like the tv were muted and you had to use head phones to get sound from tv.

The crates are really clean, the beds are comfortable, the hotel/bar/sauna is nice. Of course, it is not intimate with the plywood walls not going going fully up to the ceilings, but I wasn't expecting it to be... I just needed an affordable place to sleep and that was perfect. The room was actually even a bit bigger than what I expected.

Whats not to love about an adults only hotel that is catered to gay men? I love the decor, colors of black and red (so sexy and masculine), the quirky gay insiders, and everything about this place!!!!!

Very pleasant surprise
A really unique lodging experience catering to gay men. I stayed in one of the "shared" rooms, which have a common area and bathroom, but otherwise are fairly private. The decor is distinct and filled with sassy and erotic overtones. You'd think the Crates was a chain, with personalized soap dispensers and luggage tags among the cool touches, but it's one-of-a-kind. I loved it and will certainly come back the next time I visit Miami Beach.

Thank you Expedia for this awesome deal. Was looking for something last minute to south beach and Expedia once again delivered. I stayed at the gaythering in their crate rooms. It was perfect for me. I had no problem with noise, access to the bathroom etc. Check in was awesome. Russell at the front desk was amazing. The sauna I love, the bar really cool(especially karaoke night), centrally located, nice restaurants in the area(Lincoln road 2 blocks away) and lots of hot boys within walking distance 😈. I will definitely stay at the gaythering again. It’s sooo cool to stay in a gay hotel. Thanks guys
