Cheap stop before Keys

This was just a quick, late-night stop on the way to the Keys. We’ve stayed at this hotel before since it’s cheap, but this time, it wasn’t the most comfortable. The room is Ok. The bed is a bit saggy and the pillows are too firm. The batteries in the TV remote are dying. But the worst part was that we could hear something beeping at night. It was about once an hour and it would beep twice. We’d just fall asleep and then it would beep again. We couldn’t figure out. Then the shower curtain rod was installed wrong so it hangs down like a U and wouldn’t stay closed. It worked for a night though.

We checked in after dinner. We needed a room change, which was done easily) because there was a puddle of water on the floor from a leaking air conditioner. But, we were given no info about morning coffee (I was expecting breakfast -my mistake?) the pool or even where our room was located on the property. The noise from the highway necessitated a constant AC fan to run to sleep. The property landscape was well maintained. And, there is easy access to highways and fast food including a Starbucks are in the area. This hotel served our purpose as a base point. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We had a king size bed with twin bed pillows that were aplenty.

I liked that this was close to the keys and the national forest. I didn't like the door at the bottom had big gaps and I didn’t like that there were zero sound barriers. On the second day we killed a roach walking on the desk top of the TV. So the last day we opted out. Checked out early and went to Miami and paid for a night in a much better hotel.

Expedia never mentioned it was a Motel or showed pics that showed the 2 levels. The bathrooms were in need of such updating with rusted areas around the toilet which was old and barely hanging on. I saw efforts for updating with the floors and beds and painting but the bathrooms I did not want to use given their condition. Expedia masks what hotels truly look like and I will not use their services again to book a hotel.

Our first night room didn’t have chairs and no where to keep the suitcase off the ground. However it was remedied the next day Bfast was average but not enough for everyone. For example, not enough fresh fruit milk etc. the person tending to the meal was never really present as in many other hotels.
