The Generator Miami was a fun place to stay close to the beach and walkable to lots of restaurants. The lobby and front porch had a cool vibe, very comfortable for relaxing. The room I chose didn’t have anywhere to relax so the lobby/porch option was super. The room was quite cold at times and there wasn’t a way to control that. But it was clean and the set up was great for having privacy while travelling with my adult son (sink, toilet and shower all separate). The area has heavy traffic (lots of honking) in the late afternoon and into the night but it didn’t interfere with my sleep. Overall it was super for our three night stay.

Good location but loud
Great location with easy shuttles and bus transportation nearby. Lots of traffic getting here during Art Basel week. Energy is high here in hotel w constant music blasting so if that’s your vibe, you’ll love it. Not a super tranquil place but close to beach and good restaurant in lobby are pluses.

Excellent hotel, a little pricey but incredible well located, on the beach, and near restaurants and art galleries. One comment worth mentioning, no coffee machine or electric kettle for water in the room.

Cute place only a block from the beach. Pool area is a lovely oasis. I wanted to give it a 5 but missed the mark in several areas. Despite the non-smoking signs everyone smoked even in the pool area. Our room smelled like it was over sprayed with air freshener probably because of the smoke but we couldn’t open the windows. Our room had to be recleaned as some things were definitely missed. The rooms are big but not enough hooks to hang clothes and bathing suits and tools and no where to put your things in the bathroom. Details but important Staff are very friendly and attentive and did the cleaning right away when they saw how it had been left Loved the area of the hotel near the beach and the citi bike rentals Loved the view from the room. The food was good and the pool area was beautiful. I really hope they step it up as it’s a true gem in the making…..but….

Smell of damp in some rooms
First of all, the location was very nice and the hotel interior looked clean, but especially a few rooms had a very bad smell of humidity. The first room I was given had a very bad smell and I had to change the room. If they can remove the smell of humidity in the room, it wouldn't be bad. Secondly, the air conditioner blows cold 24 hours a day, you can't lower the temperature because the main control is at the reception, so I made a lot of effort not to get sick.

Hotel is clean, and in good shape. Not very high frills hotel, but overall not bad. They absolutely do not answer the phone, and this is somewhat problematic. Concierge staff tends to be very young, like freshman or sophomore college age. A lot of Europeans staying there but they are quiet. Very boutique-y, more like the small art-deco hotels of South Beach. I think they deserve their high marks overall. Now if they would just answer the dang phone.

Very convenient restaurant/bar right on site. Downside was no parking for hotel, had to pay to park on street or at public parking garage 4 blocks away. Very pet friendly.

I usually stay on ocean drive however most hotels were sold out. I did enjoy staying here although it was only for 2 days - the room was so clean and spacious. The staff are also very friendly and the location was convenient. lol

The shower floor/grout was filled with mold. The pillows smelled foul. The A/C would not get cool/cold. The bed was not a proper King mattress- it was 2 twins butted together & you can feel the crack. I guess you get what you paid for lol.

This place had a nice pool but that’s all. At best it is a 2 star hotel. No TV in the room, no control over the thermostat, no soap, shampoo or anything that normal hotels would have. They make you pay a deposit for towels!? They say pet friendly but don’t allow cats. The attached restaurant had decent food. Will never stay here again!
