Hotel location great, Hotel rooms good clean and comfortable, but I had specifically requested a room near the elevator as I am old and not capable to walk stairs or many steps. The room which was chosen was just the opposite. It was in 4th floor and elevator goes only to 3rd. The rest was stairs! Luckily I had my family traveling with me and could switch rooms.

Can’t beat the view
The penguin staff was attentive to our every need, I stayed after surgery and was very comfortable. It would have been more convenient to have a microwave in my particular situation, but the food choices in the area were phenomenal so it didn’t matter in the end. I booked the top floor and highly recommend it!

Great location, Great staff
Really cute hotel right on the main walkway/beach. Walkable to all sorts of restaurants and bars. The pool is at the sister property just behind this and was super easy to get to. The rooms were a little tight to open suitcases and we had to take turns but there were four of us in the room. Hotel was quiet at night.

Beautiful little hotel right on the beach. We had a great view. The room was small and simple- but immaculate. The bed and pillows were comfortable. With Icean Ave closed to traffic, getting to room for the first time and departing are a bit of a pain- you have to park with the Valet at their sister hotel, The President, and take your luggage down the alley between properties to the President to get your car. There is a Bellman. Parking was $8 more than stated in Hotels.com listing.

I like the location, didn’t like there was no actual pool on the roof top as advertised. The hotel offered free breakfast (nice Gesture) however, the choices or options were of poor quality. The orange juice was tasteless. Great welcome choice drinks tickets at the bar.

We got in late and wanted the complementary drink. They told us we could not get it untill after 12:00 the next day. Thats funny because we stayed for one night and check out is at 11:00. The bed was lumppy and the pillows were flat bricks. Oh an I get up at 7:00 Am to go to the Lobby to get coffee and they dont serve coffee here. Turns out I have to go next door to the same place that serves the complementary breakfast and drink that doesn't open untill 8:00 am.I will say who ever did the marketing for this place gets a 5 star because the photos and the reviews were great.

Reception staff were very good, and the room was clean, however he room size was small for 2 queen beds, and the breakfast items and the restaurant staff at breakfast time were both very disappointing. At 9 am, there was nothing to eat as breakfast, no plate and dishware, noclean table, and the staff no responsible.

Disappointed to find hair in the so-called 'clean' towels. The location is great, but the breakfast left much to be desired - overcooked scrambled eggs, fries, and plain toast (no butter, jam, or jelly provided). There were also a few cut fruits, but they weren’t replenished once gone. I wouldn’t recommend the breakfast, especially if you’re traveling with a young family.

We were overall disappointed with the actuality of amenities at the Penguin hotel. The breakfast vouchers to attend a different hotels breakfast were confusing and misleading. When we did find the breakfast situation, everything was cold, both the food and plates/utensils were poorly stocked and it was clear the hotel guests were far inferior to those ordering off the main cafe menu. The Penguin hotel is conveniently located next to other great options and within walking distance to nearly anything you’d want on Ocean Drive and Miami Beach. Hopefully you don’t have too much to carry because you’ll need to haul your luggage a few blocks as there is no parking/cars allowed on the streets in close proximity to the hotel. Hopefully you’re not looking for ice from the ice machine either. There is one machine for the whole building and it doesn’t keep up. The “king” room we rented was small and the bed was a full bed, not a king. For what we paid for this room, we wouldn’t stay at this hotel again and would opt for spending our money on something that had amenities right in or near the hotel instead of confusing and misleading shared services agreements with other hotels.
