The property is great. Rooms are spacious and the entire hotel is very clean. The hotel breakfast is good - good variety and the staff constantly refreshed all food and drinks. The pool is nice - not huge but good temperature and clean. Housekeeping was also good - our room was consistently cleaned each day we returned. The only complaint was the front desk staff upon check in. I felt like my children and I burdened the employee when checking in and the whole interaction couldn’t be more transactional. Every other time I passed the front desk, my family and I were so nicely acknowledged, which made the check in interaction so odd and uncomfortable. Overall a good stay.

Another solid holiday stay
I stay at Hyatt Place St. Paul Downtown every Christmas. My sister and I average about 14 total nights per year and have never had a serious complaint. The rooms are nice if a bit 'Beige and Taupe'. The breakfast is mid to up scale with just enough variety. The location next to Union Station is fun with great Uber service. The staff is uniformly friendly and helpful. This is not a big place with a fancy restaurant...just breakfast. The bar is 4 seats and often closed. But they have a decent hotel store including beer and wine. This works for us.

Really enjoyed our short stay here! The room was beautiful. Every person we interacted with was super helpful. It’s in an area that is very walkable with many restaurants around to choose from. I just wish there was a parking garage available but otherwise valet is $32 per night.

This Hyatt is a bit unusual in that it is not a purpose built hotel but rather a reuse of a 1934 Post Office/Customhouse. This results in bare and austere hallways and rooms that have unusually high ceilings, yet there is also charming art deco era details around the hotel that offset the utilitarian grimness of a former government structure. My room remained warm throughout my stay even though the outside temperature had plunged to below zero, and I was more than satisfied with the size and functionality of the room, especially the toilet area. One oddity was that my keycard was necessary to enter the hotel at all hours, which was a minor inconvenience. The proximity to the St. Paul train depot and light rail station is a major plus for this property.

Converted former post office building. Rooms were large and very nice. Exceptional value for the money. Breakfast was typical hotel breakfast and very adequate. Would for sure stay here if anywhere near in the area!

Convince to Union Station (Christmas Market) and walkable to Xcel for hockey. Instead of valet parking, I self parked directly across the street for $16 per day. The front desk staff was completely lackluster. The property was clean and the included breakfast was good. My room was clean, however (533) caused overactive sneezing which was resolved shortly after stepping outside. Maybe change the air filters more often, not sure, but something was causing nasal irritation. (I don’t suffer from allergies)
