One of the worst check-in processes ever. Its the second time I have stayed at a Marriot owned hotel in Minneapolis. First was the Aloft which was a great hotel with poor service. This time was the Moxy. Wonderful concept for a modern hotel. Quiet, clean, comfortable. Great hotel if you can ever get checked in. I stood at the desk (which is also the bar) to get checked in for over 30 minutes. The staff never even acknowledged me. She was trying to make an Old Fashioned for a customer ans had to google how to make it. I asked a customer at the bar "Is this where we check in?" Yes they replied. The staff still never looked at me even when i called out to her. I then picked up the service phone (sign said pick up for service), no answer. I then called the hotel phone from my cell, the phone next to the staff rang and she never answered it.
She was still focused on making the drink. She then told the customer she only had Jim Beam for whiskey. I clearly could see 10 different whiskies from Blantons to Uncle Nearest, etc. She obviously was in over her head. By the time she finally got to me almost 40 minutes had passed while my wife and 5 yr old waited in the car. I have yet to experience the check-out process which I have zero confidence in. Its a wondeful hotel, if you ever get checked in.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
I really wanted to like Moxy more than I did. It has a unique style, but there were a few frustrating things that made the experience underwhelming for the price you pay for the room. It has a cool atmosphere and I liked the design elements. The staff were all friendly enough. The rooms lack some basic things like a closet or dresser (they have pegs for you to hang all your stuff on just out in the room), they really didn't proved much in the way of toiletries other than what you would get in a Super 8, and the bed and pillows might have been the least comfortable I've experienced at that price point. (Pillows flat and lumpy... basic mattress...). The extra $30 per night to park your car makes sense with a more urban hotel that sprung in the city with limited space/options.... but here the parking garage is empty and attached to the hotel. I've paid less per night for valet. The gym was nice enough and the bar area was fine if not underwhelming. Like I said, nothing overtly bad, just not overly great.
Pictures are deceiving. The rooms are SO SMALL, and we had a suite... bathrooms felt like i was in a mental asylum. The bathroom door barely closed, no shower door. The "sofa" was a pull out and had rips and tears covered with tape.
This hotel is very unprofessional and shady. They overcharged me quite a bit on my room rate even after I locked in my room rate online with them. That’s just something a hotel doesn’t do. I tried to contact them to resolve this, should be an easy matter but no, they make up all these excuses to charge their customers more and sweep their customers underneath the rug. Not dealing with this place again. 0/10 stars
The Moxy was unbelievably cute! Great location. Staff was friendly and inviting! My friend and I stayed for two nights. The parking was convenient, however, we added the parking to our room, so we had a pass to leave when we needed, etc. I was unaware, but this cost $70 for two nights - $35 a day. So just be prepared for that if you are planning to stay in their parking garage.
Overall a great place and loved all of the games in the lobby. However, the one bartender we had was not consistent in what he was charging for drinks that Saturday night. Seemed sketchy to us. (Party of 6)
Parking was an absolute scam. $35 a night with no legitimate alternative. Off the four nights we stayed, two were fraught with an unreasonable amount of noise; loud music, doors slamming, riotous conversations in the hallway.
2nd stay. Very cool and hip. A fun spot. No fridge or coffee in the room is a negative. No soap or lotion, another hit. I’d still stay again but might also check spots in the area.
