Center of City alright
Surprisingly good, secure three-storey building on commercial street. Very large investment made here to modernize this hotel: bathrooms new with strong pressure and hot water plentiful, comfortable beds and bedding. Restaurant and bar service with actual edible cuisine, (well, food) and espresso. Decor is pretty spartan though, merely functional. Staff and management is responsive and professional. City Hotel is the only viable hostelry in this immediate vicinity. Unless you need specifically to be in this neighborhood, there’s not really a reason to stay here as nearby amenities (for foreign tourists) are virtually non-existent. Moreover, it’s a no go zone after dark. You’ll need hotel to get you a taxi to so much as go across the street. Note there’s construction underway within the hotel compound. Free airport pickup and breakfast incuded. The wifi was excellent.

Pleasant surprise
After years of roughing it on visits to Monrovia it was a pleasant surprise to stay at City Hotel. It is clean and comfortable. The members of staff are friendly, which is typically Liberian. On international standards it’s definitely not worth the $100 a night price tag, but anything of any quality in Liberia is assumed to be paid for by NGOs, the UN or the like. So the price is high… Internet was working well for all but the last 24 hours. We will definitely look yo staying there again on our regular visits. A safe haven in a downtown area.

Clean hotel in downtown
Located in downtown Monrovia. Clean and we'll functioning room, the AC did the job. Compared to other hotels I stayed at in Monrovia, this one gave the best value for money.
