The room was lovely and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I spent some time at the spa which was very relaxing and offered a number of different treatments. The food overall was good. Some dishes, especially in a few of the specialty restaurants were rather salty. Pepe's jerk chicken was amazing. If you don't get there before 1:30 pm, the hot sides like the rice and peas, festival will be gone and staff seem to take a long time to replenish them. The beach was nice but it would be great if they used the tractor to remove seaweed either in the early morning or late afternoon hours. The tractor was out for at least 3 hours mid afternoon and although the driver was careful, it was a bit chaotic at times getting in and out of the water. The entertainment was good and the team, especially "Mosquita" does a great job to keep people entertained.

Went with my partner and both her and I loved it. The staff was great with some really standout bartenders that made an effort to go the extra mile to make drinks even if they were a pain in the ass to make. The food was really great even if you just hit the buffet(get the spicy pickled carrots/onions thing by the fried fish on the right side). The room was really nice too. I'm not sure what I could criticize about it honestly except I was wanting to have some ackee and saltfish since that's the national dish and it was never featured...but in fairness everything else was so good I didn't ask about when or where it would be. Would def go back. Great engaging staff. fun shows. Not so huge you get overwhelmed but plenty of places to go.

We LOVE riu resorts however this one missed the mark. Our toilet would not flush, had to call front desk for maintenance for it and the lights kept going off for no reason multiple times which was NEVER resolved, the toilet was finally after day 3. Waited for 3 days for an extra blanket because it just happened to be cold the week we stayed. And the ice machine in our building was broken. BUT The staff were cheerful and wonderful, however we did wonder why there wasn’t a back up plan by the resort for when it rained, which it did for 3 days of our trip and everyone was just sitting around the covered exudous bar area drinking but some music or SOMETHING would have been nice. I’m sure we will stay there again, hopefully not all the way in the farthest building on the poverty and the very last room (it literally took us 8 minutes to get to our room from the front desk)

I had a great time! very fun resort for activities, parties, and an upbeat feeling! keep in mind that most of the hotel is updated but the outsides of the buildings/ hallways elevators are not updated. the rooms are renovated and nice. food was pretty good you can find something that you like everywhere! you will need to book reservations for the dinners which can be booked up sometimes so do that when you check in! lots of free water activities and inexpensive activities available on site. I went solo and felt pretty safe and comfortable.

This was my first time staying at the Montego riu,and I must say it was a memorable experience as it was a birthday trip,I had a great time ,the staff especially the entertainment staff ,I must mention a few smiley such a pleasant young lady,Allison,and the one and only Susie-q Joewayne from the front desk and Christopher from the dining,thanks guys ,I’ll definitely returning for another vacation,looking forward to it.

Service was poor, I was overcharged to add a guest, food was basic and sometimes undercooked. We both got sick the second day after eating from the buffet. I’ve been here a few times and had a great time but this time was a waste of money. I wouldn’t recommend.
