Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, property conditions & facilities
The reviews are pretty consistent, so we kinda knew what to expect. The pros: nice beach, all-inclusive, don't have to wait for the food to come out - which is a huge problem if you eat off-property. Cons: the food was truly terrible, which was a huge disappointment. The 'grill', which was there for in-between meals (like when we arrived) was just old, lukewarm, and bland burgers. Would have been nice to have some sort of local food, but if nothing else, maybe something hot. We made reservations for the fancier restaurant our first night, but were told there was only one available at 8.30p. We happened to be walking by around 6.45p, and there was no one there. We ended up coming around 7.30 to see if maybe we could get in earlier, and had no problem because there were only 2 tables with guests. So, yeah - I don't know what their booking strategy is. But even the food at the nicer restaurant was bland and uninspiring. The next morning we had the breakfast buffet, which was also meh. We were hoping again for local cuisine - like tasty fruit and maybe, anything not something you can get at a Holiday Inn, but no luck. So after 3 meals, we never ate there again.
But the location isn't great, as there's nothing to walk to. We took a cab into town for $25 to the Hip Strip, which was supposed to be interesting, but had nothing worthy of a look.
We drove down to Negril on day 2, and really wished we had stayed there instead. A much more beach vibe, without the big h
