The facility was under construction and there was no notice prior to the reservation being made. The construction workers began at 0800 and woke me up. I got to bed late and this was a little frustrating. House keeping then came at 0900 and tried to walk in without notice, or stating who was at the door. There was no do not disturb sign available to put outside the door but honestly I feel like they could have checked to see if I was checked out before entering the room. It’s not like they were going to do a great job cleaning anyway. The couch smelled musty, and the carpet was oddly greasy and dirty feeling in texture. I paid for the more expensive hotel in the area thinking I would get a better experience but unfortunately it was terrible.

Courtyard Marriott Salinas is a great place to launch the Salad Bowl experience whether visiting beautiful downtown or bouncing to Monterey, Carmel by the Sea, or Big Sur.

I booked a king-size bed, but upon arrival, I was switched to two queens. The front desk explained that “Expedia, as a third-party, has no control over their room assignments.” I’ve been an Expedia member all my life, and this is the first time I’ve been disappointed—I’ve always had great experiences before and never expected to encounter this. There were two front desk staff members: one was a trainee, and the other simply said there were no king rooms available, offering only to refund and cancel my reservation. That kind of response feels dishonest and unhelpful. On top of that, the property itself is poorly managed—the carpet looks filthy and outdated. I’m not sorry to say this will be my last time staying here, and I will definitely not recommend this place to anyone.

Disappointed!

Hotel did not provide the usual amenities (i e. Body lotion, shower cap, etc.) Security personnel should be able to converse in basic English. I really expected more from a Marriott hotel!
