The best part of my stay was the location of the hotel. Right in downtown. Walk to shops and great restaurants. I didn’t like the $50 a night valet parking. So I parked a few blocks away for $24 a night. On Check out day which is noon. I went downstairs to get a luggage cart. When I got back to my room at 0830 the maid was in my room cleaning. I my luggage and items were in my room. I had to ask her to leave. She said her computer said room was vacant. Also I asked for room service every day. One day I left at 0800. I got back at 4pm. Room wasn’t cleaned.

I was shocked to learn we had to request our room to be cleaned rather than it just being cleaned. We weren’t told about this until I complained when we checked out. I was also shocked to see that “room service” for food meant you had to go to the lobby to pick up your food. This is in Monterey, Ca. not some place out in the country. And this is a Marriott. I expect better.

This Marriott is conveniently located to the convention center and wharf. It is an older property. Lobby and bar/restaurant are nice and have been updated. (close kind of early). The remainder of the hotel is “above average” but nothing particularly memorable.
