The outside looks older, but the inside looked like a new studio apartment. Great lighting, comfortable bed, and quiet. No pool, but they have a dog park area.

The property exceeded my expectation in some ways. The mini-fridge was a small Fridge with a separate freezer section. It looked like it was recently updated. The clerk said they were still working on more updates. Parking is limited but that is not totally unusual. There isn’t a menu or pricing for the restaurant next door and when we looked it up online the prices were very different than the actual prices. We will stay there again.

The property was ok for the time that we were there, the second night it sounded like someone was going to fall through our ceiling. The room was semi clean, the beds were clean. The bedroom floors, bathroom walls, shower, and bathroom floors had hair all over them, i wouldnt walk without socks on. The towels were stained, i am very OCD and check everything before staying in a room. It wasnt bad enough to leave but it definitely wasnt a "clean" place to stay. The gentleman who worked in the front office was very welcoming. I did not make any complaints since it was a short stay. They just need to work on the cleaning in between patrons.

The staff were nice and the property and rooms were clean. They were very dog friendly and had a nice femced in area for pets. However, the TV changed channels on its own and the coffee machine malfunctioned (hot water and coffee grounds “exploded” onto me). It was a little more noisy than expected.

Unfortunately, we did not enjoy our stay at this property. First, we picked this hotel based on location and because it was pet “friendly.” The pet fee sucks, but is sort of understandable. And though it wasn’t on the Expedia website (where it should be) it is expected. However, the $250 penalty for leaving your dog in your room is ridiculous and should’ve been made clear PRIOR to spending hundreds of dollars. For context, my wife and I bring kennels and both our dogs are kennel trained. They eat their meals in there (to avoid issues with our cats), and we typically leave them in there whenever we leave a hotel room just to ensure they don’t do anything dumb. It’s never been an issue in our many years of travel. But not being able to go anywhere without them without penalty is a trip-altering policy and should be said up front. If we had known that policy we wouldn’t have stayed at Pacific Inn. So that lost the hotel a few stars right off the bat. But the more egregious issue happened later that night in our room…where we started hearing scraping and clawing within the walls. Our dogs noticed it earlier before we did, but we just thought it was neighbors or workers due to the paper-thin walls. But sure enough, there were rats within the walls. My wife caught video of them running by in an exposed crevice in the bathroom and all night we heard them within the walls. Not only is this really gross, but it could be against California law as well.

Ok but try heat and a/c while lobby is open!

It was ok if you just need a place to sleep but make sure you know how to operate A/C. There was a wall thermostat that had no power to it and a sign on the unit that said ‘a/c is operated by wall unit’. Well it wouldn’t work first night and we sweat all night because they told us at check-in office closed at 10. The next day I called and he came over and told me it’s manual and turned it on at the unit. I said the sign says it’s operated by the wall unit so I didn’t open that and try it. And he says no it says manual and I show him the sticker that says a/c is operated by wall unit. He says ‘oh they’re changing out all of this.’ And I’m like great we sweat all night for no reason. And he says you should’ve called. And I say it was after 10. And he says we’re still there you just have to call. Not what I was told at check-in and lobby is dark and closed up at 10. Also bathroom door frame is all chewed up, rusty hinges. Seems like an easy thing they’d fix. We stayed 4 nights.

It all started with the friendliest young man at check in. Service with a smile and very helpful. The rooms are very clean, beds were comfortable and came with refrigerator, microwave and coffee. Grandmas Kitchen is right next door and the food was excellent! We will definitely be staying here again on our next visit.
