Great hotel mid mattress

I loved the building, lobby, decorations, and restaurants. The mattress seemed worn because there were saggy parts where most people sleep. We requested a microwave and it was brought to our room promptly. The carbon monoxide alarm started chirping at 3 AM, and someone came to replace the batteries.

GLORIA in the front desk was unwelcoming and has an attitude towards us and other guests. She ruined the name Portola Hotel as the face in front. The Valet and doorman were the only ones that made us feel welcomed. We will not return to this hotel.

The main thing this property has going for it is location. Otherwise there is nothing exceptional about it. Their room rates are too high but they get away with charging them because of the location. The property is way too pet friendly. I saw many dogs staying in rooms with their owners on all floors. For this reason I will not return to this property.

I had a great stay. What I recall the most was the valet who somehow remembered my last name when it was time for me to get my car. There's no way he would have known that in advance! Don't remember his name though. Long hair, with glasses........excellent service! Will be back soon.

Upon arrival it was very late and we were tired. We parked in structure unknowingly they had valet parking. Because there are numerous towers of rooms it would be super helpful to check in prior to paying for parking. They also do not provide a luggage cart unless you use valet parking. Great service but requires tipping the valet and a second tip for luggage. I suggest having cash ready
