I’m so glad I chose the Portola Hotel for my stay in Monterey. After going back and forth between several hotel options, this one ended up being the perfect choice—and I’ll definitely be staying here every time I come back! The location is incredibly convenient—right in the heart of Monterey, walking distance to everything I wanted to explore. Parking was a breeze, and I used the valet service throughout my stay. It was quick, prompt, and made things so much easier. The hotel itself is extremely clean and well-maintained. My room was spotless, quiet, and the bed was super comfortable—I slept so well each night. Housekeeping did a fantastic job every day, keeping everything fresh and tidy without ever being intrusive. Overall, the Portola Hotel provided a relaxing, hassle-free experience in a beautiful setting. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Monterey!

Property is very close to fisherman’s wharf and downtown area. Free trolley stops in front of hotel that brings you to the aquarium and cannery row. Only issue we noticed was that concierge was not available the two days we were there. We wish we had known about the trolley because it would have saved us on Ubers and time.

My room was filled with ants! I thought there were only a few but then over time I kept finding them in different places! Along the walls, by the trash cans, even on the bathroom floor. I don’t know if the housecleaning spilled food while they were in our room but I don’t know where they came from!
